Background

Cui Ciyou lived on Earth under the shadow of an abusive, gambling father, debt collectors, and his mother’s exhausting attempts to support the family. Cynical about fictional ideals of salvation, he nevertheless risked his life to push a young girl out of the path of an oncoming vehicle. His final thoughts were of his mother and whether she would be able to live without him. 1

After his death, the Human God identified him through Future Sight as a foreign variable—a “BUG” whose unusual fate could disrupt the established course of the Six-Faced World. 1

Cui awakened in a primeval forest with an enhanced body but few supplies. He survived by applying survival knowledge, making fire with a bottle opener and flint, and adapting quickly to the world’s dangers. His first battle against three Assault Hounds awakened Perception and established his overwhelming physical advantage. 3 4

Appearance

Cui is a tall, lean young man with a youthful, delicate-looking face that contrasts with his intimidating strength. His unfamiliar appearance and clothing immediately mark him as an outsider in the Central Continent. 6 27

  • Flowing black hair, later described as reaching his shoulders. 27
  • Black eyes and narrow phoenix-like eyes. 6 27
  • A “baby face” that belies his resolve and combat ability. 3 27
  • Initially wears a black hoodie, white T-shirt, and black casual pants from Earth. 3
  • Bears a faint scar behind his left ear from his former life. 1

Personality

Cui initially presents himself as cold, cynical, and emotionally detached. His experiences on Earth left him distrustful of narratives that glorify suffering or promise rescue. Yet his actions repeatedly contradict his self-protective rhetoric: he dies saving a child, intervenes to save Carl’s caravan, and refuses to abandon the starving Ghislaine. 1 9 23

He is highly analytical and pragmatic. Faced with an unfamiliar world, he prioritizes water, food, shelter, language, combat training, and access to books. He studies people, social hierarchies, sword styles, magic theory, and political geography as information necessary for survival and independence. 5 7 13 29 44

Cui values promises and responsibility despite claiming indifference. After accepting employment from the Boreas family, he resolves to fulfill his duties as a tutor rather than abandon a difficult student. 31

Abilities & Skills

Enhanced Physiology

Cui’s transmigrated body possesses exceptional strength, speed, coordination, durability, pain tolerance, and regeneration.

  • Can leap nearly two meters with minimal effort and land without significant impact. 2
  • Killed three Assault Hounds in under a minute through punches, a neck break, and a kick that snapped a spine. 4
  • Recovers from wounds at an abnormal rate; bite wounds that should scar heal completely within days. 5 30
  • Possesses enough raw power to split boulders, but ordinary weapons can break under the recoil. 19 20

Perception

Perception is Cui’s combat-sensory state, apparently supported by Mental Power.

  • Transforms his vision into a black-and-white world of energy-like points and lines. 4 18
  • Makes enemy movements appear slowed and allows him to read attacks, follow-up intentions, timing, and trajectories. 4 18
  • Lets him effortlessly counter Dak’s attacks despite his limited formal swordsmanship. 18
  • Does not replace technical knowledge against truly skilled opponents. 16 44

Magic Nullification

Cui passively suppresses supernatural energy in a short radius around himself.

  • Nullifies Battle Aura, even when it has already been activated. 6 9
  • Extinguishes incoming spells before they reach him and can prevent magic from forming nearby. 9
  • Has an estimated effective radius of three to five meters. 9 10
  • Makes him especially dangerous against mages and aura-dependent combatants in close quarters. 9 44
  • Cannot use the mana or Battle Aura systems he suppresses. 20

Mental Power

Mental Power is Cui’s mysterious internal energy source. He suspects it underlies his physical enhancement, Perception, regeneration, pain resistance, and Anti-Magic Field, though its true nature remains unknown. 30

  • Increases gradually after being exhausted and fully restored. 32
  • Can be channeled into sword attacks as an alternative to Battle Aura. 47
  • Enabled Cui’s Sword King-level slash. 47 48
  • Severe overuse causes dizziness, nausea, mental agony, and near-total exhaustion. 48

Swordsmanship

Cui combines overwhelming physical ability with technical study from the North God and Sword God styles.

  • Perfectly copied Dak’s North God Style Basic Stance after seeing it once. 17
  • Learns North God Style principles of deception, adaptability, terrain use, and victory by any available means. 17 19
  • Receives systematic Sword God Style fundamentals from Ghislaine, including grip, footwork, swings, slashes, and thrusts. 37
  • Struggles with the instinct-based teaching approach of the Sword God Style and supplements practice with library research. 37
  • Can use the Soundless Sword, a Mental Power–based Sword of Light, and a Sword King-level strike without Battle Aura. 47 48

Learning and Teaching

Cui has exceptional memory, pattern recognition, and language-learning ability.

  • Learned Human Common Tongue from isolated words and gestures to functional everyday communication within months. 7 13
  • Treats language as a practical tool for gathering knowledge about the world’s laws, geography, power systems, and society. 13
  • Uses House Boreas’s library to study literacy, history, geography, politics, religions, races, magic, and the three major sword styles. 29
  • Tailors lessons to his pupil’s interest in combat, using swords and battles to teach arithmetic, history, reading, and writing. 42

Equipment

  • Steel longsword — Given by Carl when Cui leaves Turan for Roa. 22
  • White horse — Also gifted by Carl for his journey to Roa. 22
  • Mother’s diamond ring — Worn on his left pinky after transmigration. 3
  • Cracked jade pendant — A childhood keepsake with a protective pattern. 3
  • Keychain tools — Includes a nail clipper, miniature butterfly knife, and metal bottle opener; the bottle opener is used to start his first fire. 3

Story Role

Arrival and Survival

After reincarnating into the Six-Faced World, Cui survives alone in the wilderness, kills an Assault Hound pack, and realizes that his body and perception have changed beyond human limits. His first contact with Carl’s caravan is strained by his inability to speak Human Common Tongue and the group’s fear of his strange appearance. 3 4 5 6

The Red Beard Caravan

Cui aids Carl’s caravan after his Anti-Magic Field prevents Battle Aura from affecting him. During the Grey Wolf Bandits’ ambush, he chooses to intervene rather than flee, saves Dak, kills his first human opponents, and reveals the full danger of his nullification ability. 6 9

The surviving caravan accepts him with gratitude. Carl and Dak teach him Human Common Tongue and local swordsmanship, while Cui gains his first meaningful support system in the new world. He later refuses Carl’s invitation to join the Red Beard Adventurer Party, choosing instead to follow his own plans. 10 13 19

Journey to Roa and Ghislaine’s Rescue

Cui leaves Turan for Roa with supplies, a horse, and a steel sword from Carl. On the road, he finds Ghislaine Dedoldia starving and near death. His careful treatment restores her will to live, and she swears to serve as his sword in repayment. 22 23 24

Boreas Tutor

Seeking access to books and information, Cui applies for the Boreas family’s tutor position. Sauros hires him alongside Ghislaine after witnessing Cui endure a strength test without moving. 21 27

At House Boreas, Cui teaches arithmetic, reading, and writing while Ghislaine teaches swordsmanship. His early relationship with the Boreas young lady is hostile and marked by repeated ambushes, skipped lessons, and destructive behavior; he gradually earns cooperation by adapting instruction to her love of combat. 31 32 42

Sword King Breakthrough

Cui’s research and training reveal the limitations of his aura-less combat style. After witnessing Ghislaine’s Sword King strike, he experiments with using Mental Power as an alternative energy source. His success earns Ghislaine’s recognition as a Sword King, though the technique nearly empties his Mental Power and leaves him vulnerable afterward. 46 47 48

Encounter with Roxy

Cui meets Roxy Migurdia when she arrives to apply as a magic tutor. Recognizing her from his former life’s knowledge of Jobless Reincarnation, he is shaken when Philip rejects her application and impulsively stops her from leaving. 50

Relationships

  • Carl — Caravan captain who initially tests and fears Cui’s abilities; later becomes a trusted benefactor, language teacher, and source of practical support. 6 10 22
  • Dak — Carl’s child and Cui’s admirer. Dak teaches him Human Common Tongue and North God Style fundamentals, while Cui serves as Dak’s model of heroism. 11 17 19 22
  • Ghislaine Dedoldia — Cui saves the starving Sword King, and she swears to become his sword. She becomes his travelling companion and Sword God Style instructor. 23 24 37 48
  • The Boreas young lady — Cui’s difficult academic pupil; their relationship begins with hostility and repeated attacks but develops into a more effective teacher-student bond as he bases lessons on her interest in swordsmanship. 32 36 42
  • Sauros Boreas Greyrat — Hires Cui after testing his physical strength and recognizing Ghislaine’s reputation. 27
  • Philip Boreas Greyrat — Cui’s employer at House Boreas; grants tutors access to the household library but leaves Cui responsible for managing his pupil. 29 31
  • Roxy Migurdia — A familiar figure from Cui’s former life’s fiction whose real-world presence deeply affects him. He prevents her from leaving after her rejected interview. 50

Trivia

  • Cui’s attempt to communicate by carving Chinese characters into stone confirms that no one in the caravan recognizes his writing system, intensifying his sense of isolation. 7
  • He recognizes the Six-Faced World as the setting of Jobless Reincarnation only after hearing place names, observing its monsters and sword styles, and seeing Chaos Breaker above Turan. 15
