After boarding that white horse in the station's stable and paying for its feed,
Cui Ciyou took Ghislaine to the Adventurers' Guild in Roa.
The guild hall was as noisy as ever. It seemed Adventurers' Guilds were lively no matter where they were.
Ignoring the curious looks from those around him, Cui Ciyou walked straight to the quest board.
Sure enough, a commission written on fine parchment in elegant handwriting hung in the most conspicuous spot.
[Well-paid position for a private tutor. Responsible for teaching a noble young lady swordsmanship, arithmetic, reading, and writing.]
[Excellent compensation, room and board provided...]

[Interested applicants, please visit the residence of the lord of Fittoa, the Boreas Greyrat Family, for an interview.]
Cui Ciyou walked over to the guild counter, where a somewhat lazy-looking female receptionist glanced at him.
When she heard him asking about the Boreas family's commission, a teasing smile appeared on her face.
"Oh? Another fearless warrior, huh?"
The receptionist yawned and lazily rummaged through a stack of documents.
"Let me see... Yep, that's right. You're already the fifth one this month."
"Of the first four, the longest-lasting one stayed three days. The shortest one... I think they got thrown out after half a day."
Less than one person a week on average. That really was impressive.
Cui Ciyou silently marveled, gaining a new and more vivid understanding of the destructive power of the young lady he had yet to meet.
Looks like my earlier worries really were unnecessary. I was even wondering whether someone might beat me to it.
Now that I think about it, even if someone did get there first, I could just find somewhere to stay in Roa and wait a week.
This tutor recruitment commission would probably be posted again by then.
The original story mentioned that aside from her etiquette teacher, Edna, and her later swordsmanship teacher, Ghislaine,
no private tutor had ever lasted more than three days under Eris Boreas Greyrat.
So the receptionist's "one a week"
was probably already the limit of how quickly the lord's residence could recruit new tutors, rather than the limit of how quickly Eris could drive them away.
It seemed that no matter what world one was in, there would always be troublesome brats and elders who spoiled them rotten behind the scenes.
Cui Ciyou mused to himself.
"Just as expected of the 'Mad Dog' from the original story, the 'beast' famous among the nobility," Cui Ciyou remarked involuntarily.
After leaving the Adventurers' Guild, they did not need to ask around for the Boreas family's address.
After all, the Boreas residence stood in the center of town and was practically the largest building in the entire city.
It was distinctive enough that even a newcomer could find it with ease.
Rather than a residence, it was more like a small castle. Its grandeur was truly astonishing.
Damn rich people!
As he approached the castle-like structure, Cui Ciyou could not help being awed by the wealth and power of the Boreas Greyrat Family.
Its towering walls, exquisite carvings, and several guards stationed at the entrance in full sets of finely made plate armor, holding halberds and carrying themselves with steady composure.
Cui Ciyou and Ghislaine arrived at the residence gates and explained their purpose to the guards.
After registering them, the guards asked them to wait, then had the butler report to the head of the household.
After some arrangements, the butler, Alphonse, had the male servant Thomas lead them into the residence.
Cui Ciyou studied Thomas. He remembered that, in the original story, this man seemed to have orchestrated Eris's kidnapping when she was nine.
After entering the residence, Cui Ciyou was surprised to discover
that every maid here was a beastfolk woman, and every single one of them was... rather well-endowed.
He recalled that in the original work, the Boreas Greyrat Family, one of the four great Greyrat noble houses of the Asla Kingdom,
seemed to have a distinctive family preference: beastfolk and huge breasts.
Just as I thought. Every Boreas is a pervert obsessed with beastfolk and huge breasts, Cui Ciyou mocked inwardly.
Still, the four great Greyrat noble houses of Asla each seemed to have their own peculiar tastes.
So this was hardly surprising.
Cui Ciyou and Ghislaine followed Thomas into the reception room, where two red sofas faced one another.
Thomas gestured for them to sit, then quickly brought over two steaming cups of black tea.
Just as they were about to relax for a moment and enjoy the tea—
Bang...
With a sudden deafening crash, the reception room door was shoved open so violently that it might as well have been slammed open.
"You two the new private tutors?"
A burly middle-aged man barged in. His rough tone and manner made the air itself feel heavy.
He looked to be in his forties or fifties, with several streaks of white among his brown hair. His knotted muscles stretched his luxurious clothes taut, giving him an imposing appearance.
After violently throwing open the door, he spoke loudly as though Cui Ciyou and Ghislaine had offended his eyes.
"I am the lord of Fittoa, Sauros Boreas Greyrat."
Though calling it speaking loudly would be inaccurate. He was practically roaring.
Cui Ciyou set down his teacup, rose calmly, and replied with composure.
"I am Cui Ciyou. This is my companion. She came with me to apply for the tutoring positions."
"I am applying to teach reading, writing, and arithmetic. She is applying to teach swordsmanship."
Ghislaine followed with a brief introduction. "I am Ghislaine Dedoldia."
Sauros was quite surprised when he heard the surname "Dedoldia."
He looked Ghislaine up and down, apparently taken aback by her pure Dedoldia Tribe bloodline.
"Oh—how rare! A Dedoldia, and from the royal family of the Great Forest—the Dedoldia Tribe."
He then turned to Cui Ciyou, the displeasure in his eyes completely undisguised.
"A black-haired, black-eyed fellow is rare too. No family name—are you a commoner?"
"Are you human or demonkind? And how strong are you?"
As he spoke that last question, the burly middle-aged man frowned.
"But that face of yours really rubs me the wrong way!"
Cui Ciyou was tall and lean, his flowing black hair falling to his shoulders.
His handsome, almost delicate baby face and slightly narrow phoenix eyes gave off an air of indifference.
He wore black clothes and casually held an ordinary one-handed sword in his left hand, looking carefree and unrestrained.
A rarely seen handsome young man?
Sauros cursed inwardly.
The more I look at this brat, the more irritating he gets. He has the kind of face women like. Is he some pretty boy?
From the corner of his eye, Sauros noticed the two well-endowed beastfolk maids standing by the door blushing as they secretly looked at Cui Ciyou.
That made him even more displeased. The look he gave Cui Ciyou became filled with annoyance.
Ghislaine answered Sauros's question and added her credentials.
"Sword King of the Sword God Style—full mastery. Disciple of the current Sword God, Gal Farion."
Cui Ciyou also replied calmly.
"As for me, I suppose I'm human. Cui is my surname, and Ciyou is my given name. As for my strength... Sword Saint Rank."
"Cui? Your surname comes before your given name? What an unusual naming style." Sauros was clearly more interested in Ghislaine's title of Sword King.
"I've heard of you—the Black Wolf Sword King, Ghislaine."
After saying that, Sauros burst into loud laughter.
"I see! Both of you are hired. Your monthly salary will be two Asla Kingdom gold coins."
After saying that, Sauros slapped Cui Ciyou hard on the shoulder, his malicious intent obvious.
He used enough force to make an ordinary knight stagger.
However—
Cui Ciyou's shoulder did not budge. That tremendous force vanished without a trace, like a clay ox sinking into the sea.
Sauros's smile stiffened slightly, and a flash of surprise passed through his eyes.
Note:
The worldbuilding of Jobless Reincarnation took inspiration from medieval Europe.
Given names came first, followed by family names.
Among humans, only nobles possessed family names. Demonkind apparently all had family names, with no distinction between nobles and commoners.
If demonkind had to be divided into nobility, it would probably be based on strength.
Demon Kings, Demon Emperors, and Demon Gods.
There were many Demon Kings, but only one Demon Emperor and one Demon God. They were the protagonists on the demonkind side during the Three Human-Demon Wars.
Demon Emperor—Kishirika Kishirisu.
Demon God—Laplace
