Demon King Castle in Old Kishirika City stood at the center of the crater's floor.
The castle's appearance... well, how should he put it?
It was a black iron fortress built from obsidian, a specialty of the Demon Continent.
Almost no wood or ordinary stone had been used in the entire castle. From its foundations to its towers, from its walls to its colonnades, everything was built from neatly cut obsidian.
Cui Ciyou was rather puzzled. Hadn't the willful Kishirika built the whole castle out of nightglow stone?
But if the whole castle had been built from nightglow stone, it would surely have been troublesome not only for the guards, but also for everyone living inside.
Perhaps obsidian had been chosen for defense and practicality?
That certainly couldn't have been Kishirika's idea.
Though it wasn't as magnificent as Perugius's Floating Fortress, this castle had a practical beauty of its own.
Anyone who valued practicality would surely prefer this place.

At the castle's highest point, a building resembling a castle keep had a huge hole in its left-hand tower.
The hole's edges were jagged, as though some tremendous force had torn it open, exposing broken beams and collapsed floors within.
Oh, right. This castle was normally open to tourists, and they even charged admission.
Apparently, it was divided into areas open for sightseeing and areas visitors couldn't enter.
Seeing the damaged section required another ticket.
A ticket within a ticket?
Was this the Forbidden City?

And preserving the damaged section as a "historical ruin" and charging people to see it-that sounded strangely familiar.
In fact, from the soldiers' scattered remarks, the castle really was divided into two sections.
