History

Early friendship with Qingyue and Obito

Rin is introduced while being bullied alongside Obito Uchiha. After Qingyue secretly defeats their attackers, she thanks him and correctly explains that his advice to Obito means proving his Hokage dream through achievement rather than impulsive fights 1.

She quickly becomes receptive to Qingyue's wish for a peaceful, comfortable life. At Ichiraku Ramen, Rin reveals her own ambition: becoming a medical ninja so she can help people wounded in war. When Qingyue asks for her help in ending the conflict, she agrees enthusiastically 2.

Childhood vow and Academy years

Rin regularly supports Qingyue's training by bringing water and towels, helping him stretch, and sometimes running alongside him. Concerned by the prospect of war, she and Qingyue make a pinky promise: she will protect him, while he will protect Konoha 4.
