Background / History

Sakumo was celebrated as Konoha's White Fang, a battlefield swordsman whose reputation eclipsed that of the Legendary Sannin. His prestige and popularity also made him politically vulnerable. 16 21

Before the Third Shinobi World War, Sakumo abandoned a mission to save his comrades. The decision mirrored one made by Kakashi's mother, whom Sakumo had supported despite her own failed mission. Public condemnation drove Sakumo into despair and toward suicide. 16

Qingyue forced Kakashi to speak honestly with his father.
