Qingyue kept Kakashi in the Academy, helped Sakumo reconcile with his son, and became a Chunin and then Konoha’s youngest Jonin. As the war approached, Qingyue chose a new Battle Aura ability and learned that Sunagakure’s army was advancing toward Konoha.

• Qingyue met Rin and Obito, joined their circle of friends, and began training with Hill while developing his Fenrir form and Battle Aura.
• Qingyue entered the Ninja Academy with Rin, Obito, Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai, then trained Might Guy and taught Kakashi about Battle Aura.
• Qingyue kept Kakashi from graduating early and urged him to speak with Sakumo after Konoha villagers condemned Sakumo for failing a mission.
• Qingyue forced Kakashi to talk with Sakumo, and Kakashi and Sakumo reconciled before Sakumo became an instructor for Qingyue and Kakashi.
• Qingyue went on missions with Sakumo and Kakashi, overcame his distress after killing bandits, and helped expose how rumors had been used to undermine Sakumo.
• Qingyue passed the special Chunin exam by defeating Kakashi, then received a special Jonin promotion after completing difficult missions with Sakumo.
• Qingyue chose Dragon Saint Battle Aura for his tenth birthday, treasured Rin’s heart-shaped pendant, and resolved to prevent deaths at Kannabi Bridge.
• Sasori assassinated the Third Kazekage, and Sunagakure’s army crossed Amegakure toward Konoha’s border.

Qingyue helped Konoha turn the war against Hidden Sand and Hidden Mist, then faced the Seven Ninja Swordsmen and survived a forced teleport that brought him to Furan. After protecting Furan from Kumogakure ninja, Qingyue fought Kanasi, whose Steel Release left him badly wounded as he began to unlock a stronger use of Haki.

• Hiruzen assigned Sakumo and Qingyue to destroy Hidden Sand supply camps, and after months of covert raids they returned to the front and learned that Konoha was ready to strike.
• Qingyue and Sakumo attacked the Sand camp, where Hill took control of Qingyue and summoned a thunderstorm that helped them kill Rasa and defeat the defenders.
• Qingyue reported Rasa’s death to the Third Hokage, then joined the eastern front and helped Shisui’s forces counter Hidden Mist’s attacks.
• Qingyue found the Seven Ninja Swordsmen confronting Might Duy and Might Guy’s team, killed Kushimaru Kuriarare, and stayed behind to hold off the remaining swordsmen.
• Qingyue killed Munashi Jinpachi before collapsing, and Konoha reinforcements captured the surviving swordsmen and brought him to the hospital.
• A forced teleport sent Qingyue to a forest, where he met Furan, a red-haired girl who had lost her village, and promised to take her to Konoha.
• After Kumogakure ninja abducted Furan, Qingyue transformed into Fenrir and killed the nine men at their camp before comforting her.
• Kanasi, an Iwagakure rogue ninja sent by Man-God, attacked Qingyue with Steel Release, and Qingyue shattered the spears piercing him as Furan watched.
