Background

Qing Yanjing was born into the Qing Lineage, one of the Buddha Ancient Clan's three main lineages. As the bearer of the Eight Divine Veins, she was hailed as the Buddha Goddess. After reaching Earth Sovereign Great Perfection, she lost her father—the Qing Lineage's patriarch—to an accident; his death began the lineage's decline. She left the clan to undergo trials and seek a way to restore its standing. 1

While concealing her identity during her travels, Qing Yanjing became a target of the Extraterritorial Evil Clan. She was ambushed by a force including a Profound Demon Emperor and several Nether Demon Emperors. She killed three Nether Demon Emperors, trapped the remaining enemies with a spirit formation, and escaped to the Hundred Spirit Continent. 14

Forced to attempt an Immortal-Grade breakthrough while fleeing, Qing Yanjing failed and lost all of her spiritual energy. Besieged by spirit beasts afterward, she was drawn through a spatial rift created by Meng Chen's summoning and arrived on the Dou Qi Continent. The lower plane also shielded her from her clan, whom she feared might seize her Eight Divine Veins if they discovered her weakened state. 2

Initially summoned as Meng Chen's Dao protector, Qing Yanjing could not fulfill that duty at full capacity. After accepting his account of a future mission against the Heavenly Evil God, she chose to train him personally and accepted him as her sole disciple. 2 15

Appearance

Qing Yanjing carries herself with an ethereal, noble bearing that other characters immediately find difficult to place in a place such as Wutan City. Her face is generally hidden behind a white veil, but her violet eyes and refined dress remain conspicuous. 1 8 10

Qing Yanjing is dignified, restrained, and strongly guided by responsibility. Although weakened and unable to immediately protect Meng Chen, she treats his rescue as a debt and insists on compensating him with the resources and knowledge available to her. 2 3 5

She is protective to the point of ruthlessness when Meng Chen is threatened. She eliminates the bandits who target them, dismisses Ling Ying's covert intrusion without concern, and nearly kills Hai Bodong for threatening her disciple. 3 19 26
