Eli walked alone along the path back to Hogwarts. Faint footprints were still visible along the way.
Victor had just made his intentions clear. He wanted Eli to provide them with Purification Potion. In return, the Werewolves under his leadership would stand by Eli forever.
To show their sincerity, the two had even made an Unbreakable Vow.
The spell would act directly on their souls. If either of them broke his promise, he would die immediately.
A similar spell was the Fidelius Charm.
It did not kill anyone. Instead, it hid the secret of a location forever within a Secret Keeper's soul.
As long as the Secret Keeper did not reveal the secret, no one would discover the place, even if they stood right in front of it.
Both were extraordinarily powerful binding spells.
Almost no one could undo them.
As soon as Eli returned to Hogwarts, Dumbledore summoned him to the Headmaster's Office.
"What did he promise?" Dumbledore's usual warmth was gone. His expression was grave.
Dumbledore had never attempted anything like what Eli was doing now.
And Werewolves were a brutal people. That was practically the consensus throughout the Wizarding World.
Working with Werewolves was like drinking poison to quench a thirst.
"Victor promised to lead the Werewolves toward friendship with humans forever. He'll also stand with us against Voldemort."
"How much can we trust him?"
"He made an Unbreakable Vow with me."
A flicker of delight crossed Dumbledore's eyes before he quickly concealed it.
Eli suddenly felt an irresistible surge of magic sweep over him from head to toe. For a moment, it seemed as though every secret he had lay bare before Dumbledore.
"I'm sorry." Dumbledore looked more ill at ease than Eli had ever seen him.
"You're my teacher, aren't you?"
Dumbledore looked deeply at
