Background / History

Tom Marvolo Riddle was born to the Gaunt line, descendants of Salazar Slytherin, and the Muggle Riddle family. He grew up at Wool’s Orphanage after his mother, Merope Gaunt, died. His ancestry and obsession with grandeur later shaped his choice of family heirlooms and historic artifacts as Horcruxes. 273

As a young wizard, Riddle assaulted his uncle Morfin Gaunt, stole the Gaunt ring, murdered his father and grandparents, and altered Morfin’s memories to frame him for the crimes. He later became Voldemort, a Dark wizard renowned for exceptional magical talent, ruthlessness, and a willingness to split his own soul repeatedly in pursuit of immortality. 273 280

Voldemort created multiple Horcruxes through murder, including Tom Riddle’s diary, the Gaunt ring, Ravenclaw’s diadem, Hufflepuff’s Cup, Slytherin’s locket, Nagini, and other soul anchors. The process damaged his soul and left him increasingly unstable, paranoid, and vulnerable to the influence of the Death God. 71 273 295 313

In October 1981, Voldemort attacked the Potter family after identifying Harry Potter as the child named in a prophecy. Lily Potter’s sacrifice caused his Killing Curse to rebound, destroying his body and splitting his soul; fragments became attached to Harry and infant Eli. Eli absorbed the fragment within him, inheriting Voldemort’s memories, magical knowledge, and Parseltongue. 2 6

Appearance

After his resurrection, Voldemort has a visibly inhuman, serpentine form: wax-pale skin, a flat nose reduced to two slits, scarlet eyes with vertical pupils, and a bald head. 212

Voldemort is ambitious, cruel, and intensely controlling. He considers followers, servants, and even powerful pure-blood families to be disposable tools rather than equals. He is highly intelligent and politically calculating, using fear, promises of status, and racial ideology to secure support from pure-blood families and magical creatures. Battle of Hogwarts and Death

Voldemort believes Harry and Dumbledore are dead and demands Hogwarts surrender. Harry survives the Killing Curse and attacks Nagini, while Dumbledore and Grindelwald prevent Voldemort’s escape. With Nagini destroyed and no Horcruxes remaining, Voldemort is reduced to ashes. 326 327 328
