Eli felt that this trip had been well worth it.
"Go ahead and do it. It's about time I troubled a few old friends. I heard you hired Lupin as your shop manager?"
Dumbledore casually picked up a licorice sweet, put it into his mouth, and chewed it with a loud crunch.
"Yes, Professor Lupin was very willing to help me with this," Eli said, picking up a licorice sweet as well. But the moment he picked it up, the pitch-black sweet opened its mouth and bit him.
Why did a piece of candy have a mouth? And why could it bite people?
The slightly unhinged licorice sweet fell back into the dish, and the remaining sweets all seemed to come alive, bouncing about like little fish.
"I forgot to tell you, these little sweets are rather temperamental." With a light wave of Dumbledore's hand, all the scattered sweets flew back into the dish and returned to their quiet state.
Eli was rather speechless. Why did Dumbledore always enjoy eating such bizarre things?
