Just as Eli and Harry were rapidly swimming upward, Eli suddenly felt something grab his foot.

When he turned around, a huge eye was staring at him from right behind him, almost pressed against his face.

An endless chill instantly shot from the soles of his feet to the tips of his hair, and fear even left Eli frozen for a moment.

Harry, beside him, was too frightened by the suddenly appearing monster to move. Only when the danger triggered Eli's survival instincts did Eli use a spell to send Hermione rapidly toward the surface. Harry came to his senses as well. "Fly!" Ron Weasley also quickly rose to the surface.

The monster instantly released Eli and swiftly turned away. The spell struck another part of its body, but aside from a patch of white that lingered for a long time, it had not even broken the skin.
