Background

Harry is the son of Lily and James Potter and survived Voldemort’s attack as an infant. Lily’s sacrificial Blood Protection Charm destroyed Voldemort’s body and left Harry with a scar; the same event also separated him from his missing younger brother, Billy Potter. 2 37

He grows up neglected by Vernon and Petunia Dursley, who confine him in the cupboard beneath their stairs and conceal his treatment from visitors.
