The two Aurors who had been pointed out wore miserable expressions. Who knew whether that thing was really dead?

"What are you standing around for? Get in there!" Ludo Bagman barked, and the two Aurors entered the lake.

Everyone present watched the two Aurors, like a flock of geese craning their necks.

While the two Aurors were still examining it, Dumbledore waved his Wand and dried everyone's clothes.

The weather was still cold, and everyone had to wear warm clothing. Scheduling the lake challenge at a time like this was simply deranged.

The two Aurors began making their way back to shore, bringing a section of tentacle with them. The other Aurors had already secured the corpse.

"Well? Nothing wrong, is there?" Ludo Bagman asked impatiently.

Before the two Aurors could answer, Moody roughly snatched the squid tentacle from their hands.

He nearly pressed his nose against the slimy tentacle as his Magical Eye examined it without moving.

Moody's expression changed. He thrust the tentacle forward. "You may not believe this, but judging by this thing's resistance to magic, it could fight a Dragon!"

Ludo Bagman's face immediately turned terrible. What did it mean, fight a Dragon?

The first task had merely required the Champions to find a way to get an egg from beneath a Dragon. There had been no need to fight one, because fighting a Dragon was simply asking to die.

If this squid was truly as powerful as a Dragon, then hadn't Eli and the others just fought a Dragon head-on?

No matter how one looked at it, that could not count as one of the trials.

Even if it really was a trial, if word got out, Wizards would only point at their noses and call them insane.

"Moody, did you really see clearly?" Ludo
