A Talk with Shafiq

Eli walked over to the chairs, glanced at the one Burke had just occupied, pursed his lips, and sat in another.

In fact, Eli had arrived at Shafiq Manor before Burke.

He simply hadn't expected Burke to show up before the two of them could begin talking.

Alastair knew that if Eli Hall, the man behind the Phoenix Potion Shop, had come to see him out of the blue, it wasn't to discuss anything trivial.

The Shafiq family was well informed. Alastair already knew that the Huaxia Cultivation World had sent people into Europe, and he knew what they intended to do.

The people from China had made no attempt to hide it.

Knowing the Phoenix Potion Shop's ties to China and what was at stake, Alastair made sure to receive Eli properly.

Alastair was a clever man. He had no intention of letting Eli and Burke, two longtime rivals, run into each other.

Eli had no desire to fight Burke over who went first, so he waited in another room.

Eli had picked up Burke's conversation with Alastair. Or rather, Alastair hadn't shielded it at all.

Despite the Burke Family's considerable strength, Burke hadn't told Alastair a word about China. Instead, he had spent the whole visit urging him to make trouble for the Phoenix Potion Shop. It was hard to call that sincere.

To show his own sincerity, Alastair let Eli know what Burke had said.
