After Zhang Zongde left, Dumbledore turned his gaze to Eli.
"Eli, what do you think about this attack?"
Eli withdrew his gaze, and the two sat back down in their chairs.
Hearing Dumbledore's question, Eli fell into thought.
The Werewolves' actions this time had been incredibly bold. Either they did not understand China's strength, or the temptation of profit was simply too great.
Eli did not really believe the former. This attack had surely been personally ordered by Fenrir, perhaps even led by him.
Werewolves were, after all, a race with a long history. As the current leader of the Werewolves, Fenrir held great prestige among them and could not possibly lack experience. Lupin had become a Werewolf as a child because of Fenrir's attack. Having lived this long, Fenrir ought to know a thing or two.
Then the only possibility was the profit behind it.
But China had only just entered Europe and had barely even dealt with the Ministry of Magic, putting on the appearance of a publicly funded sightseeing trip. That greatly narrowed the scope of whatever benefits were involved.
Eli guessed it was likely related to his cooperation with Shafiq this time.
That bunch of Werewolf brutes could barely read a word. They certainly were not acting because someone had stolen their business.
The reason behind it was simple—someone had hired them to act.
Eli rubbed his thumb over his chin, staring endlessly at the mottled patterns on the table. Finally, he said, "I'm afraid this has something to do with the Death Eaters. It seems we really did strike a sore spot this time."
Dumbledore nodded. His pale blue robes flickered beneath his thick white beard. "It seems Shafiq truly has broken away from them. Otherwise, they would not have reacted so fiercely."
"Then... how
