No one knew how large the maze truly was. Harry and Eli kept moving through it, their wands having already mapped out a large area. With magic to help them, at least they did not have to keep going in circles.
As the two moved, the greenery on either side began to stir. Vines shot out from the dark green leaves like venomous snakes, spreading toward them at tremendous speed.
"Flying Sand and Rolling Stones!"
"Diffindo!"
These vines could not truly cause the two of them much trouble, because the plants simply could not withstand their spells.
Meanwhile, Cedric, who had entered first, was darting aimlessly through the maze.
He apparently had not thought of Eli's method, so he had not even noticed that he had already passed through some paths.
Pheobe did not seem overly hurried, but the vines that suddenly burst out around her left her frightened and on edge.
The dark, confined environment was exceptionally stifling, let alone being trapped inside a complicated maze with no visible exit.
As time passed, the unchanging dark green plants all around them made everyone increasingly restless.
Krum began to sprint. He was the first, but he would not be the last. So far, no one had fired the red Fireworks that signified withdrawal, which meant no one knew whether somebody had already approached the trophy. Everyone grew anxious.
For the other Champions who were not traveling in pairs, those unpredictable vines were simply too troublesome. Even if they ran the whole way, vines might be waiting just ahead.
Once someone was tangled up, even more vines would swarm over them, and they would completely lose the ability to move.
And within this maze, vines were far from the only danger.
To ensure that Harry Potter would be the only Champion
