Eli nudged Ron Weasley with his elbow, signaling for him to say less.

"He won't turn against you. Trust him..." Seeing Astoria grow increasingly agitated, Hermione Granger helped her sit down nearby.

Eli watched the two of them leave. He did not doubt Astoria's words. Though love made people see beauty in everything, Astoria knew Draco Malfoy well enough that she was not wrong.

Eli had worried about this before. He knew Draco would face this choice sooner or later, and he had suspected as much when the term had just begun.
