Scrimgeour naturally understood this, so when the title of Acting Minister fell upon him, he felt not the slightest joy. He knew all too well what kind of pressure he was facing.
Yet Scrimgeour was still unwilling to accept it. He believed that the Ministry of Magic was the Ministry of Magic, and no one should be allowed to influence its decisions.
Not the Pure-blood Families, and not Dumbledore.
Dumbledore saw Scrimgeour's concerns and continued, "I have absolutely no intention of trying to control the Ministry of Magic. I believe you know some of this as well. After Voldemort fell, the Order of the Phoenix I formed made no further moves and was practically disbanded. We only wish to protect our Wizarding World. After all, no one wants to see Voldemort tormenting innocent wizards, do they?"
Eli felt that Dumbledore had already humbled himself enough. Scrimgeour was simply someone worth cooperating with. If it had been someone like Fudge instead, Dumbledore probably would not even have been interested in talking.
Scrimgeour was not some utterly stubborn old fossil either. He could see that Dumbledore was completely sincere. He still wanted to fulfill his ambitions and carry out his duties, so in the end, he agreed to Dumbledore's request.
Scrimgeour left decisively, departing without a single polite word. He embodied the phrase swift and resolute to perfection.
If it had been Fudge, he would certainly have dressed himself up, brought along several lackeys, and then exchanged empty pleasantries with Dumbledore.
All in all, Scrimgeour was
