Background / History
Star Beasts are extraordinary creatures associated with the Astral Realm rather than ordinary planetary fauna. They invaded Azure Star through unstable spatial passages during the Astral Realm Invasion, occupying territory, slaughtering humans, and pushing civilization close to collapse. Humanity later recovered through the rise of Starry-Sky Warriors, driving the creatures back into the Astral Realm. 1 30
Their conflict with humanity remains active. Human warriors enter Minor Astral Realms to hunt Star Beasts, claim their materials, and earn Contribution Points, while Starry-Sky Fortresses suppress the passages through which the creatures could invade Azure Star. 21 30 31
Unlike mutated ferocious beasts, even the weakest Star Beast can rival a Starry-Sky Warrior and possesses an innate supernatural talent. 19 20 34
Appearance
Star Beasts encompass many forms, but their immense size, forehead Star Patterns, and stellar-force presence distinguish them from ordinary ferocious beasts. 33 34
- One-Pattern Star Beasts are generally several meters tall. 34
- Two-Pattern Star Beasts commonly exceed ten meters and exhibit more fully awakened bloodline abilities. 34
- Three-Pattern Star Beasts may be mountain-sized, while Four-Pattern Star Beasts can reach around a thousand meters in true form. 34
- Known forms include hurricane-riding Gale Star Deer, Earth Desolate Bull Beasts, giant rabbits that fire lightning from their eyes, corrosive flesh-like beasts, storm-controlling birds, giant apes, and nine-headed serpents. 20 33 34
Classification
Star Patterns and Realm
Star Patterns are the external projection of a Star Beast's internal Boundary/Astral Realm. The number of patterns identifies its realm. 40
| Star Patterns | Classification | Human Realm Equivalent | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-Pattern | One-Pattern Star Beast | Mortal Transcendence Realm | The weakest class, but still capable of wielding innate talents. 34 |
| Two-Pattern | Two-Pattern Star Beast | Starfire Realm | Usually over ten meters tall; their bodies and bloodline abilities are substantially stronger. 33 34 |
| Three-Pattern | Three-Pattern Star Beast | Skyflight Realm | Often mountain-sized; the highest class normally accommodated by Minor Astral Realms. 30 34 |
| Four-Pattern | Super Star Beast | Marquis-Sealing Realm | Comparable to a Marquis-Sealing expert and too powerful for a Minor Astral Realm to accommodate. 30 34 |
| Five-Pattern | Ultimate Star Beast | King-Sealing Realm | Nearly unmatched unless opposed by a King-Sealing Realm warrior. 34 |
Rank Within the Same Realm
| Rank | Star-Pattern Phenomenon | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Common Rank | Scattered, dim starlight | The most widespread rank; its Boundary and stellar-force reserves are comparatively limited. 39 40 |
| Lord Grade | Nebulae filling the sky | Indicates superior talent, brighter patterns, and denser stellar force. 39 40 |
| King Rank | A radiant river of stars | The strongest bloodline and talent within a realm; even a One-Pattern King-Rank Star Beast generally requires a Ninth-Tier Transcendent to confront. 40 |
Abilities & Traits
Innate Talents
Every Star Beast possesses an innate talent, often comparable to a Stellar Force Secret Art and capable of controlling destructive natural forces. 34 38
- Earth Tremor — Used by Earth Desolate Bull Beasts to condense earth-based force, distort terrain, and attack opponents through the ground. 34 35
- Hurricane control — The Gale Star Deer travels atop and commands a cyan hurricane powerful enough to tear down trees and threaten rookie warriors. 33 34
- Elemental attacks — Recorded Star Beasts can command lightning, storms, flames, corrosion, wind, rain, and other extraordinary forces. 20 34
Intelligence
Star Beasts are sentient races with intelligence not weaker than humanity's. They can assess threats, set traps, and use their abilities tactically rather than relying on brute force alone. 35 36
- An Earth Desolate Bull Beast used an initial Earth Tremor attack as bait before launching a concentrated follow-up strike at Lin Yuan while he was airborne. 36
- Their intelligence makes them more dangerous to hunt than ordinary ferocious beasts. 35
Boundary / Astral Realm
A Star Beast's Astral Realm, also called its Boundary, contains its stellar force, soul, and life essence. 35
- Destroying the heart or severing the head is insufficient to guarantee a kill; the Boundary must be destroyed. 35
- Shattering a Boundary usually causes much of its stored stellar force to leak away, leaving damaged Astral Realm Shards. 42
- A complete Astral Realm is far more valuable than shards, but obtaining one without damaging the Boundary requires Third-Realm Divine Sense to kill the Star Beast's soul directly. 42
- Astral Realm Shards can be refined into Stellar Force Potions and are valuable cultivation materials. 40 41
Habitat
- Great Astral Realm — The primary and vastly more dangerous Astral Realm; only Third-Realm martial artists are considered capable of entering it safely. 30
- Minor Astral Realms — Smaller worlds roughly comparable in size to Azure Star, serving as training grounds for First- and Second-Realm warriors. Humanity has discovered 216. 30
- Azure Star — Star Beasts previously invaded the planet through Astral Realm passages; Starry-Sky Fortresses now guard these entrances. 30 31
Relationship with Humanity
- Human Federation — Opposing side in an ongoing struggle for survival. The Federation rewards warriors with Contribution Points for killing Star Beasts and bases badge advancement, privileges, and status on those contributions. 21 30
- Starry-Sky Warriors — Principal human combatants against Star Beasts. Rookie warriors hunt One-Pattern beasts in Minor Astral Realms, while higher-realm experts confront stronger creatures. 30 34
- Lin Yuan — Hunts Star Beasts for experience, Contribution Points, materials, and lifespan through Life Plunder. His first confirmed kill, a One-Pattern Earth Desolate Bull Beast, yielded 20 experience points and eight years of lifespan. 37
Story Role / Major Arcs
- Astral Realm threat — Star Beasts are established as the true opponents of Starry-Sky Warriors, eclipsing the mutated ferocious beasts Lin Yuan hunted before his breakthrough. 19 20
- Minor Astral Realm No. 216 expedition — The Goddess Luo Squad enters Star Beast territory to train Lin Yuan and Gu Yiyi, first avoiding a peak Two-Pattern Gale Star Deer before selecting One-Pattern Earth Desolate Bull Beasts as practice opponents. 33 34
- Lin Yuan's first Star Beast hunt — Lin Yuan kills an Earth Desolate Bull Beast with Heaven-Sundering Sword Draw, proving the technique can destroy a One-Pattern Beast's Boundary in one strike. 36 37
- Star Beast hunting campaign — Lin Yuan uses repeated hunts to gain experience, lifespan, Contribution Points, Astral Realm Shards, and practical combat experience; after killing one hundred consecutive One-Pattern Star Beasts, he reaches Level 12. 39 41 43 44
- Golden Glazed Fruit Tree conflict — A Mighty Giant Ape community, including eleven Lord-Grade beasts and a near-Two-Pattern King-Rank leader, guards a heavenly treasure until Gu Shuangshuang eradicates the group. 45 46
