Background

Dai Mubai is a prince of the Star Luo Empire whose fate is bound to Zhu Zhuqing through the long-standing intermarriage and succession system between the imperial family and the Zhu Family. Their survival depends on succeeding together in their respective family competitions. However, Dai left the Star Luo Empire for Suotuo City before Zhu Zhuqing, leaving her to endure the family pressure alone 19.

Zhu Zhuqing travels to Shrek Academy primarily to find Dai Mubai rather than for its cultivation resources. By the time she arrives, Dai recognizes that she treats him coldly and has become increasingly distracted, but he does not understand why 19 37.

Personality

Dai Mubai is prideful, hot-tempered, and highly sensitive about both Shrek Academy’s reputation and his relationship with Zhu Zhuqing. Ma Hongjun and Oscar’s joking suggestion that Zhu Zhuqing may care for another man immediately provokes his anger and insecurity 37.

He is loyal to fellow Shrek students, but this loyalty often overrides his judgment. Although he knows Ma Hongjun initiated the Lantern Festival conflict by trying to lift Ye Lingling’s veil, Dai still confronts Gu Ling because Ma Hongjun was injured and Shrek’s dignity was offended 39.

In battle, Dai favors direct confrontation and refuses to back down from stronger opponents. This determination can become recklessness: during the Imperial Dou Team battle, jealousy over Gu Ling’s treatment of Zhu Zhuqing makes him abandon coordination and charge Gu Ling alone, allowing Yu Tianheng and the Shi brothers to eliminate him 56 57.

Lantern Festival Conflict

During Suotuo City’s Lantern Festival, Dai encounters Gu Ling and Ye Lingling with Ma Hongjun and Oscar. After Ma Hongjun tries to remove Ye Lingling’s veil, Gu Ling intervenes and defeats him. Dai then attacks Gu Ling to defend his teammate and Shrek Academy’s honor 37 38 39.

Gu Ling uses Void Dragon Assault to appear behind Dai, shatters White Tiger Barrier, and sends him into the street vomiting blood. Dai refuses to accept the defeat, claiming it was a surprise attack before activating White Tiger Vajra Transformation 39. He later returns to Shrek Academy injured and requires Oscar’s Recovery Sausage 40.

Imperial Dou Team Battle

Dai enters the Soto Great Soul Arena team battle already focused on revenge against Gu Ling. Alongside Xiao Wu and Ma Hongjun, he makes Gu Ling Shrek’s initial target 52.

He serves as Shrek’s front-line fighter against Yu Tianheng and temporarily forces the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon user back with Ning Rongrong’s support 53. After Shrek’s formation collapses, Tang San calls on Dai and Zhu Zhuqing to use Hell White Tiger, but Zhu Zhuqing refuses 56.

Dai interprets Gu Ling’s gentle removal of Zhu Zhuqing from the arena as proof of betrayal. Overcome by jealousy, he charges Gu Ling without regard for the battle and is struck by Yu Tianheng and the Shi brothers, becoming the sixth eliminated Shrek member 56 57.

Departure from Heaven Dou Royal Academy

After Shrek is admitted to Heaven Dou Royal Academy through Qin Ming’s proposal, Dai attacks Prince Xue Beng when the prince insults and orders the group to leave. The confrontation escalates when Prince Xue Xing brings Dugu Bo to pressure Shrek’s teachers, ultimately forcing the group to depart the academy 71.
