Cultivation Principles
- A Martial Soul's established reputation does not necessarily dictate every wielder's optimal path. Gu Ling accepts that Gu Rong's Bone Dragon became a premier defensive Martial Soul, but rejects the idea that this makes defense the Bone Dragon's only viable development. 1
- A Soul Ring is effectively permanent once absorbed, making compatibility a long-term cultivation decision rather than a temporary upgrade. 5
- Soul Masters have only nine Soul Ring slots; Gu Ling argues that abilities a Martial Soul already possesses naturally should not be redundantly duplicated through Soul Skills. 6
- Gu Ling prioritizes Soul Rings that expand the Bone Dragon's combat options—spatial movement, battlefield control, disruption, and elemental power—rather than merely increasing its already formidable defense. 4 7 22 68
Notable Manifestation: Bone Dragon
The Bone Dragon is a rare dragon-type Martial Soul whose skeletal form combines heavy bone armor with innate offensive armaments. It manifests as a pale dragon phantom with curved horns, hollow eyes lit by ghostly flames, skeletal wings, claws, and a vertebrae-like tail. 2 32
- Pale bone armor covers the wielder's arms and vital areas during Martial Soul Possession. 2 15
- Its fingers develop into sharp dragon claws, while its spine can extend into a mobile, piercing dragon tail. 2
- After absorbing Dragon King Essence, icy-blue markings appear on the left arm and scarlet markings on the right. 65
- Gu Rong recognizes Gu Ling's Martial Soul as a genuine Bone Dragon, though he notes subtle differences from his own. 32
Abilities & Skills
Innate Bone Armament
Before obtaining any Soul Rings, Gu Ling's Bone Dragon can reshape its own bones into both armor and weapons. 2
- Forms serrated bone blades capable of cutting through wooden furniture. 2
- Uses claws and a sharpened tail for close-range tearing and piercing attacks. 2
- Detaches shoulder spikes as ranged projectiles. 2
- Recalls detached bones through Soul Power and reattaches them without delay. 2
- Its armor can resist Tang San's venomous Blue Silver Grass spikes by preventing them from piercing Gu Ling's body. 15
Spatial Perception
The Bone Dragon possesses a latent affinity for space that awakens when exposed to spatial-attribute power. 7
- Detects spatial fluctuations before a teleporting enemy reappears. 7 8
- Allowed Gu Ling to direct Director Su against the Sky-Splitting Bone Leopard's teleportation points. 8
- Becomes markedly clearer after integrating the Sky-Splitting Bone Leopard's spatial attribute. 9
Spatial Rift Bone Spikes
Gu Ling's first Soul Skill sends bone spikes through spatial rifts, making their attack paths difficult to predict. 9
- A launched spike can vanish mid-flight and emerge from another direction. 9
- Enables attacks from an enemy's flank, rear, or above rather than along a visible trajectory. 21
- Spikes can be recalled after striking and merge back into Gu Ling's body. 9
- Was used to kill an Earthbone Demon Armor Beast by piercing it from multiple directions. 25
Void Dragon Assault
Gu Ling's second Soul Skill allows his own body to cross space in a sudden close-range assault. 16
- Repositions to an opponent's front, side, or rear before striking with Bone Dragon claws. 16
- Functions as both an offensive ambush and an evasion method. 16 32
- Addresses the mobility weakness Gu Ling identified after his first spar with Tang San. 15 16
- Can be hindered by stronger spatial suppression, as demonstrated inside the Spatial Demon Dragon's Independent Space. 69
Bone Prison Dragon’s Roar
Gu Ling's third Soul Skill merges terrain control, restraint, and Soul Power disruption into a wide-area technique. 29
- Summons enormous bone spikes from the ground to pierce, trap, or redirect enemies. 28 29
- Forms cages that restrict targets' movement without necessarily injuring them. 28
- A ghostly bone dragon head emits Demon Sound Roar, briefly disrupting opponents' Soul Power circulation and preventing smooth Soul Skill activation. 29
- Its intended sequence is to disrupt Soul Power first, then use bone spikes to deny escape routes and create openings for other attacks. 29
Ultimate Ice and Ultimate Fire
The Bone Dragon gains dual ultimate elemental attributes after resonating with the remains of the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King. 65
- Ultimate Ice manifests through the left arm's icy-blue markings and produces extreme cold. 65
- Ultimate Fire manifests through the right arm's scarlet markings and releases intense heat. 65
- The Dragon King essences can condense into miniature dragon-soul manifestations that suppress lesser dragon-blooded Soul Beasts. 69
Reincarnation Deadland
Gu Ling's fourth Soul Skill creates a sealed Independent Space modeled on the Spatial Demon Dragon's domain. 70
- Pulls targets into a dark, enclosed territory under Gu Ling's control. 70
- Suppresses physical ability, Soul Power circulation, reactions, and spiritual perception within the space. 70
- Was potent enough for Dugu Bo to feel its suppressive effects firsthand. 70
