In the stands, Guo Rui was already dumbfounded.
"Did I hear that right? Li Ya actually surrendered?"
She turned her head, only to find that Li Jing had already vanished.
Guo Rui hurriedly got up and immediately took out her communicator to call her mother, Aunt Chen.
At the other end of the line, Aunt Chen was discussing the location of the chamber of commerce with her business partners.
She was quite surprised to suddenly receive Guo Rui's call.
"What's wrong, Xiaorui? Didn't you have class today? Why are you calling me?"
Guo Rui searched for Li Jing as she ran.
All around her, students and residents were celebrating wildly.
Some Lower Registry residents had even begun brawling with Upper Registry residents.
Guo Rui screamed as she dodged through them.
Hearing the noise on Guo Rui's end, Aunt Chen immediately grew nervous.
"Sweetheart, what's wrong? Where are you?"
Guo Rui finally found a quieter spot. Squatting in a corner, she said, "Mom, I'm at school. Today was the school testing day, and it just ended."
Aunt Chen let out a sigh of relief.
"I thought something had happened. How did the test go? Why is it so noisy over there?"
Guo Rui swallowed and looked around before saying, "Mom, did you know? Yang Sheng actually won."
Upon hearing Yang Sheng's name, Aunt Chen did not react at first.
Then, when she realized what had happened, she abruptly stood up.
Her business partner asked curiously, "What happened?"
Aunt Chen gathered up her handbag. "I need to go see someone."
After Guo Rui finished speaking with her mother, she found that Aunt Chen had already hung up.
She got up and continued looking for Li Jing.
When she reached the bottom of the stands, she suddenly saw two people blocking Li Jing's way.
They were clearly not students. They looked like street punks, residents who had slipped in from outside.
One of them, a tall young man with a shaved head and tattoos, grabbed Li Jing's wrist.
"You said you're from a Lower-Registry Wealthy Household? Hmph. Of all people, you Lower-Registry Wealthy Households have the least backbone. You're not even as gutsy as us poor households. All you do is hang around with those Upper Registry young masters every day."
"Tell me, how many Upper Registry young masters have you dated?"
Li Jing cried out in pain as her wrist was yanked.
"In broad daylight, what are you trying to do?" she shouted, thinking she could scare them off.
Instead, the two men exchanged a glance.
"Cousin, what nonsense are you talking about? There are too many people here today. Your second cousin and I are taking you home. Be good."
Li Jing instantly panicked upon hearing that.
She was not a foolish girl. She could understand what they meant.
Li Jing hurriedly shouted, "Let me go! You two hooligans!"
People nearby cast strange looks their way.
The bald, tattooed man said, "My cousin has a mental illness. We brought her out to watch the match today, but she got worked up and had an episode. Please excuse her."
With that, the two men tried to drag Li Jing away.
Guo Rui's eyes widened. She wanted to rush over and save Li Jing.
But her feet felt like they were filled with lead, and she could not move at all.
Looking at the chaotic scene around her, Guo Rui suddenly realized that order had broken down.
If she went over now, would she be taken away like Li Jing?
Guo Rui was afraid.
Li Jing screamed several more times, but no one paid any attention to her.
She began to despair, regretting that she had come down.
There had clearly been a passage reserved for students upstairs.
She had come down only because she wanted to say hello to Yang Sheng. She was sincerely happy for him.
Yang Sheng had helped her, so she naively thought that she was also Yang Sheng's friend.
Friends were supposed to bless each other.
"Let me go! Let me go! You hooligans..."
Tears the size of beans rolled down Li Jing's face.
The two young men held Li Jing between them and headed down the stairs into the passageway, intending to make a quick escape.
Just as they were about to succeed.
They suddenly saw someone standing at the far end of the passage.
The figure stood there quietly, backlit.
The bald, tattooed man narrowed his eyes and took a step forward, then suddenly opened them wide.
"Is that... is that Yang Sheng?"
He exclaimed excitedly to his companion.
His companion also dragged Li Jing forward at a quick pace.
The two of them began flattering Yang Sheng.
"Young Hero Yang, you're truly the light of us Lower Registry people, our pride. You actually defeated Li Ya. It's unbelievable."
"Big Brother Yang Sheng, you're our whole family's idol. We all admire you."
Yang Sheng did not look at either of them from beginning to end.
His gaze remained fixed on Li Jing.
The moment Li Jing saw Yang Sheng, she began crying again in grievance.
"I've been looking for you..." Her voice was weak and aggrieved.
The bald, tattooed man hurriedly reached out to cover Li Jing's mouth.
"She's my cousin. She's just talking nonsense."
But before his hand could touch Li Jing, there came a sharp swish.
Several drops of blood splattered across the other young man's face.
The bald, tattooed man's outstretched fingers were clutched in Yang Sheng's hand.
Yang Sheng released them, and those fingers fell to the ground.
Then came another swish, and the other man's hand was in Yang Sheng's grasp.
But only the hand was being held.
Neither man reacted at first. By the time they did, they immediately collapsed to the ground, wailing in agony.
Yang Sheng took out a tissue from his pocket and wiped the tears from Li Jing's cheeks.
"Let's go."
Li Jing smiled through her tears. She reached out and grabbed Yang Sheng's sleeve, stepped over the two men on the ground, and followed Yang Sheng out of the school.
Quite a few tabloid reporters had already gathered at the school gate. Having heard that something huge had happened at the school, they all swarmed toward the martial arts arena.
None of them realized that they had just brushed past the male lead of the incident.
Li Jing followed behind Yang Sheng. Although neither of them spoke, she still felt happy.
A happiness she could not name.
Maybe it was because Yang Sheng had just saved her, or maybe she had always been happy for him.
"Why are you alone? Weren't you with Guo Rui?"
The two walked down the street as Yang Sheng prepared to head to Skysea Boxing Gym to continue training.
Li Jing said, "I was too excited just now and wanted to come down to say hello to you. I didn't expect things to become such a mess."
Yang Sheng gave a soft grunt, and the two continued walking in silence.
Suddenly, his stomach growled.
They stopped.
"I helped you twice. Can you treat me to a meal?"
Yang Sheng turned back and said calmly to Li Jing.
Li Jing froze for a moment, then tilted her head slightly. Her eyes curved into crescents, and she smiled, revealing her little canine teeth.
"Sure."
But over the next hour, Li Jing's smile never returned. It was replaced by shock after shock.
The reason was simple: Yang Sheng could eat far too much.
He had asked Li Jing to treat him because he was truly starving now.
Starving to the extreme.
