Chapter Forty-One

The spacious room was filled with quite a few alphas, along with a smaller number of omegas.

Among them were omegas like Ye Nanxun, properly and elegantly dressed, invited guests.

Beside every omega of this sort—"proper guests"—there was bound to be at least one alpha acting as a protector.

William stayed close at his side. Looking at Ye Nanxun's cool, captivating face from such a short distance often left him feeling as though he were walking on cotton, dizzy and lightheaded, as if drunk.

He did not mind Ye Nanxun's overly indifferent responses, merely assuming that the omega was reserved and did not like talking. Most of the time, William was the one enthusiastically chatting away to himself.

An occasional "Mm" from Ye Nanxun, or a slight nod, was enough to leave him completely satisfied, floating as though he were among the clouds.

Every guest in the room was extravagantly dressed and dripping in jewels. Even the air seemed to carry the scent of wealth and money.

Even amid them, the tall, slender Ye Nanxun was still the most eye-catching person at first glance.

As a top-tier alpha, William constantly sent warning signals to the others watching covetously from all around, trying to block out those annoying, furtive stares.

But what alpha attending this banquet was not a top-tier alpha with an exceptional family background?

Some brazenly came over to strike up a conversation, while others had waiters deliver a flower or a glass of wine.

William ground his teeth, considering inviting the omega to the quiet garden outside to get farther away from these buzzing flies, yet worrying that the gesture might make Ye Nanxun misunderstand his intentions.

While he hesitated, the omega beside him spoke. "There are too many people here. Let's go to the balcony for some air."

"Sure!" William nodded without thinking. By the time he realized what Ye Nanxun had said, it was too late to stop him.

The closer they got to the balcony, the louder the noise and laughter became.

The guests indoors still retained a degree of restraint. No matter how far they had pulled open their collars, they were at least still wearing their clothes.

The people in the outdoor pool behind the house were already soaking in the water, and no one knew where their clothes had gone.

Clothes, pants, skirts, and soaking wet white bathrobes lay scattered around the pool.

People in the pool had gathered in twos and threes. Some wore swimsuits, while others were completely naked.

The chaotic scene burst into view without warning. Ye Nanxun frowned tightly and gripped the cool railing.

William's voice was anxious and concerned. "Xun, are you okay? Don't look at them. Let's go somewhere else."

Ye Nanxun's face was pale. William wanted to reach out and pull him away but did not dare, so he could only lower his voice. "I'll take you next door and call Lan Xue over to keep you company."

Someone nearby clicked his tongue. "Seriously? You're scared already? Are you really that innocent?"

Zhu Shixin appeared from nowhere again, leaning against the railing not far away with his head tilted as he scrutinized the pale-faced Ye Nanxun.

The pale omega looked emotionally unstable, with the corners of his eyes faintly reddened.

Zhu Shixin looked downward. The lips hidden beneath the scarf at Dream Star Opera House that day had been red too.

Amid the swaying flesh-colored pool water, a neatly dressed figure in dark gray was suddenly thrown in.

Several alphas grabbed someone by the head, body, and feet. Amid chaotic laughter and fast-paced music, they ignored the person's struggles and cries for help and mercilessly tossed them into the pool.

A familiar voice drifted from the pool into Ye Nanxun's ears, and his pale green eyes instantly contracted with coldness.

"Cao Xi—"

It was Cao Xi.

Staircases at either end of the balcony led down to the pool below. Ye Nanxun turned to head down.

"Xun, don't go!" Unable to care about anything else, William abruptly grabbed the omega's arm. "That person belongs to Young Master He!"

Ye Nanxun whipped his head around. Flames burned in his normally clear, cold eyes. "That's a student from our school!"

William refused to let go. "You can't go. If he's here, then he must have come willingly—"

Zhu Shixin stirred things up from the side, grinning playfully. "Go on, then. But if you want to steal someone from Brother He, forget Ye Zhineng and He Lanxue saving you. Not even the Heavenly King himself could save you."

Ignoring Zhu Shixin, Ye Nanxun flung William off and hurried down the stairs.

Watching Ye Nanxun's departing back, William took two or three steps forward. The staircase was right in front of him.

As long as he went down, he could catch up to Ye Nanxun.

But He Yiming was downstairs, along with people William could not afford to offend.

Zhu Shixin sneered twice. William shuddered and ultimately failed to take that step down the stairs.

"Young Master Ye!" William turned and went to find Ye Zhineng.

With both hands resting on the railing, Zhu Shixin watched downstairs with great interest.

The tall, graceful figure reached the edge of the pool and jumped straight into the water without hesitation. With a splash, a white spray erupted across the surface.

The instant he entered the water, Poison Mushroom pheromones silently flowed into the pool, their lethal toxin creeping along the current over the skin of everyone still in the water.

The repeatedly calculated pheromone toxin seeped through pores and into the bloodstream...

His clothes had been yanked at repeatedly, his buttons falling into the water, exposing large patches of skin flushed an abnormal crimson. Soaked from head to toe, Cao Xi was pushed and pulled through the water by several alphas as they toyed with her.

The more miserably she cried, the louder and more unrestrained the people around her laughed.

A pair of slender, fair hands reached from the water and firmly held Cao Xi, who was being forced beneath the surface. Ye Nanxun kicked the alpha clutching Cao Xi's hair, then used the momentum to swim backward while holding her. Underwater, he heard the alpha's furious curse.

"Fuck, who the hell was that?!"

With his long legs spread wide, He Yiming lounged openly on a chair beside the pool. His gaze followed the figures in the water, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Ye Nanxun surfaced with Cao Xi in his arms. The frail omega's skin was alarmingly hot. Cao Xi trembled all over, crying so hard she could barely breathe.

Mycelium from his palm clung tightly to Cao Xi, keeping her from sinking. Ye Nanxun tried to bring her toward the shore, but the surrounding alphas closed in nearby.

"Oh, a prettier one showed up."

"Brother He, who's this? Can we play with him?"

Ye Nanxun pressed his lips together tightly and stared straight at He Yiming on the shore, his voice clear. "Mr. He, Cao Xi is a student at our school. Please let her leave."

Leaning forward, He Yiming laughed. "Sure. Trade yourself for her."
