Ch. 1Reborn

Chapter One Summary

Plot and Events

Ye Nanxun returns home to his loving parents, Ye Xiangsong and Chen Mingzhu, during winter. He asks for hotpot and enjoys the warmth of their family life. Though not yet twenty, Ye Nanxun is already an accomplished scholar with several microbiology papers and broad training in the arts and sports. As a rare double-S-rank Omega with poisonous mushroom pheromones, he believes marriage and romance are likely impossible for him.
Ye Nanxun remembers his previous life, in which he discovered that he was merely a minor “NPC” in a pampering romance novel. The novel’s protagonist, Xu Wenyan, was favored by several powerful Alphas, who used innocent people as targets to prove their devotion. Because Ye Nanxun was exceptionally beautiful, Xu Wenyan became jealous, and the Alphas deliberately provoked him through Ye Nanxun. Xu Wenyan eventually had Ye Nanxun’s face destroyed with sulfuric acid, after which Ye Nanxun was abandoned and died alone. His parents died later from grief while searching for him.
In the present, Ye Nanxun receives an invitation to an Omega coming-of-age ceremony at the Imperial Palace, hinting that the events leading to his tragic fate are about to begin. Meanwhile, Xu Wenyan has also been reborn. Remembering his previous life, he is confident that several powerful Alphas will once again become devoted to him. However, this time he aims even higher: he intends to win over Yan Beiyou, the most powerful and untouchable Alpha in the galaxy.

Character Development

  • Ye Nanxun is introduced as intelligent, talented, beautiful, emotionally composed, and deeply loved by his parents. His memories of his previous death give him a tragic awareness of the future, though he remains focused on his family and ordinary happiness rather than immediately seeking revenge.
  • Ye Xiangsong and Chen Mingzhu are portrayed as affectionate, devoted parents whose marriage remains warm after decades. They have sacrificed the possibility of another child to give Ye Nanxun their full love and support.
  • Xu Wenyan is established as vain, jealous, ambitious, and manipulative. His rebirth intensifies his desire for power and control, motivating him to pursue an even more influential Alpha than the men he previously conquered.
  • Yan Beiyou does not yet appear directly but is positioned as a highly powerful and desirable future figure.

Character Interactions

Ye Nanxun shares a tender relationship with both parents, especially in his casual conversation with his mother and his quiet happiness while listening to his parents laugh together. Ye Xiangsong and Chen Mingzhu interact with obvious affection, emphasizing the contrast between Ye Nanxun’s loving family and the cruel romance plot surrounding him. Xu Wenyan’s relationships with He Yiming, Ye Zhineng, Jiang Ying, and other Alphas are described as manipulative and mutually destructive, though he expects them to become submissive to him again.

Significant Themes

The chapter explores rebirth, fate, and the contrast between being treated as a disposable character and recognizing one’s own value. It emphasizes that familial love and personal fulfillment can matter more than romance or social expectations. Beauty, jealousy, power, and exploitation are also central themes, especially through the way Xu Wenyan and the powerful Alphas use others to validate their relationship. The chapter sets up a conflict between Ye Nanxun’s desire to live peacefully and Xu Wenyan’s renewed ambition to control the people around him.

Ch. 2Little Mushroom and Big Black Dragon

Chapter 2 Summary

Plot Points and Events

  • Ye Nanxun enters the virtual game world, where he uses his unusual avatar: a small white mushroom called “Big Mushroom.”
  • He returns to the game’s final boss, the invincible Big Black Dragon, as he has done for twelve years. Big Mushroom is defeated almost instantly, as usual.
  • Ye announces that this will likely be his final challenge because he must focus on confronting five powerful “bosses” in the real world: four alphas and one omega.
  • His plan is to attend Dream City’s prestigious omega coming-of-age ceremony at the Imperial Palace. As a rare SS-rank omega, he has an opportunity to attend.
  • Ye hopes that appearing publicly before powerful figures will make it harder for anyone to secretly kidnap him. He also hopes to attract the attention of Yan Beiyou, the most powerful ruler in the galaxy.
  • The chapter reveals that “Big Black Dragon” is not merely an AI: Yan Beiyou has secretly taken control of the game boss during a meeting and spoken with Ye.
  • After Ye logs off, Yan Beiyou is asked whether he will attend the upcoming ceremony. He gives a noncommittal answer.

Character Development

  • Ye Nanxun: His isolation and vulnerability become clearer. He avoids the real world because people reject his Poison Mushroom pheromones, while the virtual world offers anonymity and safety. Despite his anxiety about public attention, he shows determination to protect himself and gain leverage against powerful enemies.
  • Yan Beiyou: He is introduced as a galaxy-ruling alpha with immense authority, but also as someone curious enough to secretly play a game during a meeting. His decision to impersonate or control the Black Dragon suggests an emerging interest in Ye.
  • Big Black Dragon: Although usually an aloof game boss, it becomes unusually conversational during Ye’s final visit, creating the impression of companionship and emotional significance for Ye.

Significant Themes

  • Loneliness and companionship: Ye has few remaining friends, and the game’s Black Dragon has been his longest-standing companion, even if it is technically only an AI.
  • Rejection and acceptance: Ye does not hate his pheromones themselves; he fears the prejudice and rejection they provoke. The virtual world provides a place where he can exist without being judged.
  • Power and survival: Ye views the powerful people he must face as real-life bosses and plans strategically to survive in a world where wealth, status, and strength determine safety.
  • Reality versus simulation: The game serves as Ye’s emotional refuge, but the boundary between virtual and real life begins to blur when Yan Beiyou enters the game and speaks to him directly.
  • Determination despite fear: Although Ye is nervous about public exposure, he resolves to attend the ceremony because winning is essential to his survival.

Character Interactions

  • Ye interacts with the Black Dragon through their familiar, one-sided but meaningful conversations. He confides his plans and explains why he must attend the Imperial Palace ceremony.
  • The Black Dragon asks whether Ye has a chance against his real-world enemies and encourages him to think in terms of a careful plan.
  • Unknown to Ye, Yan Beiyou is controlling the Black Dragon during this conversation, making their exchange an indirect first meeting.
  • Yan Beiyou later speaks with his subordinate about the ceremony, leaving open the possibility that he may attend and encounter Ye in person.

Ch. 4Stunning the Crowd

Chapter 4 Summary: “Stunning the Crowd”

Key Plot Points and Events

  • She is immediately struck by Ye Nanxun’s extraordinary beauty and height, but maintains her professionalism and guides him through the ceremony arrangements.
  • Ye Nanxun is visibly nervous about the event, though Aili’s kindness helps him relax.
  • Unlike most participating omegas, who dance, Ye Nanxun chooses to perform a piano piece on the less prominent accompaniment stage.
  • As he plays, the hall’s attention shifts toward him. His music accompanies the entrance of the young omegas and their dance partners, but guests in the elite second-floor boxes become more interested in Ye Nanxun than in the formal ceremony.
  • Several influential guests speculate about his unusual height and wonder whether he might possess SS-level spiritual power.
  • Ji Yunqi confirms through a light screen that Ye Nanxun is a nineteen-year-old male SS-level omega—an unexpected and previously unknown figure in Dream City’s elite society.
  • After his performance, Ye Nanxun receives numerous bouquets and requests from guests eager to meet him. He avoids the attention and leaves the hall with Aili.
  • In the lounge, Aili offers to deal with the guests and flowers on his behalf, allowing Ye Nanxun to rest or walk in the garden.

Character Developments

  • Ye Nanxun: Revealed as an exceptionally beautiful, tall, and talented SS-level omega. Despite his elegant appearance and impressive piano skills, he is anxious, reserved, and uncomfortable with sudden public attention. His trembling hands suggest that the gala is emotionally overwhelming.
  • Aili: Demonstrates professionalism, warmth, and emotional insight. She recognizes Ye Nanxun’s nervousness, reassures him, and protects him from unwanted attention, establishing herself as a kind and dependable companion.
  • Jiang Yuenian: Appreciates Ye Nanxun’s piano performance, though his praise causes jealousy in his husband.
  • Zhu Yucheng: Reveals a possessive and jealous side when Jiang Yuenian praises Ye Nanxun, even briefly mistaking the compliment as admiration for the omega’s looks.
  • Ji Yunqi and Song Ren: Show curiosity about Ye Nanxun’s unusual status and help draw attention to the significance of his SS-level classification.

Significant Themes

Ch. 5Mushroom's Tiny Spore

Chapter 5 Summary

Key Plot Points and Events

  • Left alone in the lounge after his performance, Ye Nanxun drinks water and finally regains control of his trembling hands. He collects the name cards attached to the bouquets he received and keeps them.
  • Wanting to observe the coming-of-age ball without being noticed, Ye Nanxun sends out his Companion Beast: a tiny, snowflake-sized mushroom spore. The spore can act as his eyes, allowing him to experience the outside world despite his pheromones and isolation.
  • The chapter explains Companion Beasts as manifestations of spiritual power. Basic beasts are usually small animals, while exceptionally powerful individuals can evolve theirs. Yan Beiyou’s Companion Beast is the legendary Black Dragon.
  • Yan Beiyou arrives at the ceremony after finishing a meeting. He learns that the first dance has already ended and watches the hall from a private room with Ji Yunqi and Song Ren.
  • While observing the young Omegas, Yan Beiyou remembers the “little mushroom” who has challenged his Black Dragon game boss for twelve years. He realizes that the player began at only six years old and has used the boss partly as an outlet for resentment toward powerful people.
  • Recalling the mushroom’s statement about needing to become stronger or find a powerful backer, Yan Beiyou becomes concerned about the dangers the Omega may face at the ceremony. He abruptly leaves without showing interest in anyone present.
  • Outside in the snowy garden, Yan Beiyou reflects on his unusual eagerness to attend because of the mushroom’s words. His Little Yellow Dog Companion Beast notices a drifting, snowflake-like object—Ye Nanxun’s spore—and prepares to chase it.

Character Developments

Despite his isolation, he remains curious about the world and uses his spore to observe it safely. Collecting the cards suggests he is quietly affected by the attention he received.

  • Power and vulnerability: The ceremony gathers powerful Alphas and vulnerable Omegas, echoing the mushroom’s belief that strength or protection is necessary for survival.

  • Zhu Yucheng explains Ye Nanxun’s performance to Yan Beiyou and leaves with Teacher Jiang to search for him.
  • Ji Yunqi and Song Ren discuss Yan Beiyou’s unusual attendance and lack of interest in the Omegas.
  • Yan Beiyou’s recollection of the little mushroom’s game messages deepens his concern for Ye Nanxun.
