New Era of Xin, Year -21
Northern Countries · Count Granat Territory
Four days later, in the morning, the party led by Hero Himmel returned safely.
The remains of each fallen warrior were brought back by the current warriors.
Led by Count Gulanat, the city lord, the current warriors carried their predecessors' remains to a sealed-off clearing.
This was the Soul Resting Place the Count had chosen for the fallen warriors. It had beautiful scenery, a tranquil environment, and stood against the church.
It was not the finest location possible, but it was still an excellent site for a cemetery.
Hero Himmel stood beside the Count, watching the warriors lay out their predecessors' remains one by one in their designated places.
After a long while, Himmel asked the Count how he intended to handle the fallen warriors' funerals.
The Count spoke and explained his plans to the Hero.
Lord Serie, the Archmage, had promised to remain in the Count's Territory for no more than five days.
Therefore, the Count had delayed purifying the fallen warriors' remains until the final deadline: tomorrow evening.
The Count had not delayed because he did not want the fallen warriors to rest in peace sooner. Rather, he wanted to use the time while their souls still lingered within their remains, suppressing the decay of their bodies, to identify as many of them as possible.
Before the Hero had set out, the Count had already notified the surviving relatives of the warriors according to the casualty list, asking them to come identify the heroes' remains.
It would be best if the tombstones erected in the future could bear names.
Fortunately, many warriors had prepared themselves to fight to the death before the battle. They had brought accessories proving their identities or left their names on
