Background / History

Bai He Xun was severely injured after saving a little girl from a truck. Two months later, he remained hospitalized with fractures, had received no visitors apart from reporters, and was said to have changed markedly after the accident. Li Ningfeng's group visited him with his favorite meal, braised pork over rice 110.

Li Ningfeng approached Bai He Xun with the claim that he was needed to “save the world.” Together with Doctor Dugu, he recruited Bai He Xun for a mission to enter the Atom Universe, where radically different time flow could give him time to develop or obtain technology for Blue Star 111 123.

The mission used Brain-Machine Link technology to transfer his consciousness into another body. Bai He Xun feared that the procedure amounted to death, but Doctor Dugu described it as merely changing bodies 124. During his subsequent journey through space, he developed Mental Power and constructed a Mental World to counter isolation and continue his research 151.

Bai He Xun eventually recognized that he was not strictly the original human Bai He Xun. He regarded himself as a distinct life created from copied memories placed inside a mindless void creature, and refused to incorporate the extracted memories of other beings into his own identity 154.
