A streak of Five-Colored Divine Light and a streak of golden light raced above the sea. They were Kong Xuan and Six-Eared Macaque, traveling together through the Eastern Sea after leaving the Human Clan settlement.
"Flower Peacock, your Five-Colored Divine Light looks pretty flashy for traveling, but it's a bit slow."
Six-Eared Macaque carried the Black Iron Staff over his shoulder, turning somersaults among the clouds while still finding time to tease him.
Kong Xuan snorted, not even bothering to glance at him. "If you think it's slow, fly on your own. Nobody begged you to come with me."
"Hehe, I'm just worried someone might bully you out here on your own and disgrace our Witch Cult." Six-Eared Macaque sidled up to him with a cheeky grin.
The two bickered all the way, unwittingly traveling deep into the heart of the Eastern Sea.
The water around them gradually darkened, and strange undercurrents began surging beneath the once-calm surface.
An ancient, timeworn aura permeated the air, carrying even a trace of decay and deathly stillness.
"Wait."
Kong Xuan abruptly stopped, his brow furrowing slightly as he scanned their surroundings warily.
"What's wrong?" Six-Eared Macaque stopped too, his playful expression disappearing.
"Something's wrong with the aura here."
The Five-Colored Divine Light shimmered faintly behind Kong Xuan, ready to respond to any sudden danger. "The power of the five elements is extremely chaotic here. And... I sense a powerful resentment."
At those words, Six-Eared Macaque's ears twitched slightly as he activated his innate divine ability, Good Hearing.
A moment later, his expression grew grave as well.
