Origins

The Primordial World was opened by Pangu; after his transformation, his body became its constituent creation. Pangu’s heart became Pangu Hall, while Mount Buzhou formed from his spine and supports heaven and earth. His navel became the Blood Sea, and his left eye became the Sun Star. 1 3 31

Twelve strands of Pangu’s natal essence blood combined with World-Opening Turbid Qi to produce the Twelve Ancestral Witches. Their inherited Pangu bloodline grants them an exceptional affinity with Mount Buzhou and its pressure. 1 3

According to an account Hongjun later gives Dijiang, Chaos Fiends defeated during the World-Opening Tribulation may survive in Primordial Chaos and threaten the world if it weakens. Dijiang considers the survival of some powerful Fiends plausible, but disputes Hongjun’s claim that every Fiend survived and doubts his stated reasons for merging with Heaven’s Way. 97

Environment and Natural Laws

The world is a perilous primordial wilderness in which powerful cultivators, innate spiritual roots, Spirit Treasures, and destructive natural forces coexist. Weakness is treated as a fatal condition, while possession of resources is generally decided through strength. 1 45

• World-Opening Turbid Qi and Earthly Killing Intent — Temper the physical body but contaminate the soul origin, preventing the ordinary Ancestral Witch bloodline from producing Primordial Spirits. 1
• Innate spiritual qi — Pure spiritual energy used for cultivation; the Creation Jade Disk can refine turbid qi and Killing Intent into this form. 1 2
• Tribulation Aura — A calamity-born influence that clouds heavenly secrets, magnifies greed and killing intent, and drives cultivators toward irrational slaughter. 4 5
• Demonic Qi — A more dangerous corruptive force associated with Luo Hou. It feeds upon resentment and dead souls, damages Primordial Spirits, and can turn living beings into death-defying servants. 15 16
• Fortune — Spiritual and political providence generated through reverence, protection, teaching, and the flourishing of living beings. It can improve comprehension of Laws and accelerate cultivation; authority over the Heavenly Court also provides immense Fortune. 14 16 36 61
• Merit — A reward bestowed by Heaven’s Way for stabilizing major worldly disasters, such as the crises at Undying Volcano, the Eastern Sea sea eye, and Qilin Cliff. Humanity’s creation earns an exceptionally large grant of Merit, enabling Nuwa’s Sainthood. 28 30 31 70 71
• Heaven’s Way — Recognizes vows and claims to worldly authority, grants Merit, and governs the conditions of Heavenly Dao Sagehood. After Hongjun merges with it, the world’s laws become more complete and its heavenly secrets clearer, while his direct intervention becomes restricted. 21 55 61 71
• Karmic cause and effect — Slaughter burdens factions with karma, while consequential aid can create obligations between powerful beings. Dijiang regards his assistance to Nuwa in creating humanity as a karmic debt she will owe the Witch Cult. 13 21 69 70

Era of the Three Clans

The Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Clans fought for hegemony and Heaven-and-Earth fortune, turning much of the Primordial World into a battlefield. Their war devastated mountains, waters, and ordinary living beings while worsening their collective karmic burden. 3 5

The deaths of prominent clan elders at the hands of the Ancestral Witches intensified the conflict. Origin Phoenix, Ancestral Dragon, and Primordial Qilin each blamed their rivals, escalating the struggle into total war. 11 12

The three clan leaders ultimately used the final western battle to expose and eliminate demonic servants hidden within their forces. The resulting slaughter nevertheless devastated all sides and weakened the former overlords. 18

Withdrawal of the Ancient Clans

After the conflict with Luo Hou, the three clan leaders accepted responsibility for their clans’ karmic debts and withdrew from worldly hegemony. Ancestral Dragon imprisoned himself within the Eastern Sea sea eye, Origin Phoenix continued suppressing Undying Volcano, and Primordial Qilin bound himself to Qilin Cliff and the earth veins. 21 28 30

Their decline ended the three clans’ dominance and opened the way for new powers to compete for influence across the Primordial World. 21 33

Dao-Demon War

Luo Hou exploited the world’s bloodshed, resentment, Killing Intent, and Demonic Qi to complete the Sword Formation of Immortal Execution beneath Mount Sumeru. 12 18 22

Hongjun gathered ancient powers to oppose Luo Hou in the Dao-Demon War, presenting the conflict as a campaign on behalf of Heaven’s Way. The war damaged the Western Continent and destabilized its earth veins. 22 30

Rise of Mount Buzhou

The Twelve Ancestral Witches initially reject hegemony built upon bloodline armies and conquest. Instead, they shelter displaced beings, teach cultivation, and establish Mount Buzhou as a refuge and Dao-transmission center. They later create a limited number of bloodline descendants to serve the Heavenly Court. 13 14 33 62

The protected population grows from millions to tens of millions, then draws attendees in the tens of billions when Mount Buzhou’s sermons become open to all sincere seekers. Their gathered fortune manifests as a massive Fortune Golden Dragon. 14 36

Dijiang establishes laws forbidding fighting, oppression of the weak, and the presence of gravely karmic or malicious individuals inside the formation. The resulting Dao Protector Army and Dao Transmission Pavilion transform Mount Buzhou into an organized sacred land. 36

The Ancestral Witches later teach the Primordial Origin Great Dao as an alternative to Hongjun’s Three-Corpse Severing, stockpile Spirit Treasures for their followers, and develop supporting disciplines including talismans. After Hongjun merges with Heaven’s Way, Dijiang opens the Law Stele Grove and formally names the Mount Buzhou faction the Witch Cult. 42 53 54 55

Heavenly Court and the Sage Era

Di Jun establishes the Demon Clan after gathering a large share of the world’s living beings. Heaven’s Way grants it Merit and Fortune, making it a rival to the Witch Cult. The Ancestral Witches subsequently seize the Heavenly Court; Heaven’s Way acknowledges their authority to govern the Primordial World and grants them Merit. 55 61

To administer the Thirty-Three Heavens, the Ancestral Witches nurture 120 Great Witches from their source blood. After prolonged cultivation, the Great Witches receive key governmental and military appointments. Meanwhile, Hongjun encourages Nuwa toward creating a new race as a means of counterbalancing the Witch Cult’s growing power. 62 63 66 68

With materials supplied by Dijiang, Nuwa creates humanity on the Eastern Sea coast. Heaven’s Way grants immense Merit to Nuwa, the new humans, Mount Buzhou, and the materials used in their creation. Nuwa becomes a Sage, marking the beginning of a new era of Sage-level power. 69 70 71

The Witch Cult later defeats the Three Pure Ones through its Twelve Capitals Divine Baleful Formation. Hongjun intervenes before Dijiang destroys their Sage Seats; Dijiang instead places Mount Kunlun under Heavenly Court jurisdiction. The formation’s Pangu Phantom is temporary and consumes Pangu’s residual will when activated. 96

Following the battle, the Three Pure Ones seek recovery and disciples, while the Western Religion preaches and recruits among cultivators who lack opportunities elsewhere. The Demon Clan completes the banners for its Heavenly Cycle Star-Fighting Formation and seeks Hong Yun’s Primordial Purple Qi as a possible route to making Taiyi a Sage. 98 102 103 104

Inhabitants and Powers

• Twelve Ancestral Witches — Pangu’s descendants and the leaders of Mount Buzhou. Unlike their expected fate, all develop Primordial Spirits and Law Dao Fruits through Dijiang’s intervention. They later govern the Heavenly Court. 1 2 22 61
• Great Witches — A group of 120 Pangu-bloodline descendants nurtured from the Ancestral Witches’ source blood. After reaching Peak Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal, they become principal officials and military leaders of the Heavenly Court. 62 63 66
• Witch Cult — The Mount Buzhou lineage formally established by Dijiang to teach the Law Grand Dao. Its institutions include the Law Stele Grove, Dao Protector Army, Dao Transmission Pavilion, and a treasury used to reward capable followers. 36 53 55
• Dragon Clan — Former rulers of the Four Seas. Their decline is worsened by Demonic Qi, the Nine Nether Cold Spring, and Ancestral Dragon’s self-imposed duty at the sea eye. 16 28 29
• Phoenix Clan — Birdkind’s former ruling power, based at Undying Volcano. It becomes allied with the Ancestral Witches through a transaction to stabilize the volcano. Origin Phoenix later encourages her son Kong Xuan to join the Witch Cult. 27 28 64 66
• Qilin Clan — Beastkind’s former ruling power. Its survival depends on stabilizing the damaged earth veins beneath Qilin Cliff. 30 31
• Human Clan — A race created by Nuwa from Nine Heavens Resting Soil and Three Lights Divine Water. Its first three thousand innate members receive a portion of the Merit from their creation; the population later grows into numerous tribes. 70 71 98
• Demon Clan — A broad faction established by Di Jun and Taiyi. It gathers many of the world’s races but loses the Heavenly Court to the Ancestral Witches and develops the Heavenly Cycle Star-Fighting Formation as a countermeasure. 55 61 67 104
• Rogue Cultivators and refugees — Displaced beings gathered by the Ancestral Witches during and after the three-clan war. Those with sound character may receive shelter, teachings, and cultivation opportunities at Mount Buzhou. 13 14 16
• Hongjun’s faction — A Heaven’s Way-aligned power centered on Hongjun, whose sermons at Violet Firmament Palace gather the fortune of prominent innate sacred beings. After merging with Heaven’s Way, he works largely through indirect support and his disciples. 34 35 55 61 68
• Three Pure Ones’ sects and Western Religion — Sage-led teaching factions competing for disciples and Fortune. The Western Religion recruits in the East, including among seekers unsuccessful at Mount Buzhou or bound for Kunlun Mountain. 98 102 103

Cultivation Systems

Rules of Mount Buzhou

1. Fighting and vendetta killings are forbidden within the Spirit-Gathering Formation; violators are executed. 36
2. The strong may not oppress the weak; offenders have their cultivation abolished and are expelled. 36
3. Those burdened by grave karma or malicious intent must leave within one hundred years or face punishment. 36
4. Disciples of the Pangu Orthodox Lineage are accepted according to destiny and temperament, not public displays of pleading or self-harm. 41
