What were Newtypes?

That was people's first reaction upon seeing the news.

But an answer soon emerged.

The Newtypes mentioned here were not a self-proclaimed label used by Coordinators.

They were Newtypes in the truest sense of the word.

Although some Coordinators called themselves Newtypes, before true Newtypes, there was little difference between Coordinators and Naturals.

If Coordinators were an overwhelming, dimensional advantage over Naturals, then Newtypes possessed the same overwhelming advantage over Coordinators.

In a sense, Coordinators were actually much like enhanced humans. Both were merely derivative variants born from the Newtype Plan.

Newtypes stood above both Naturals and Coordinators. They were beings truly worthy of being called "humanity's future."

Take the MS Piloting ability people discussed most these days.

Newtypes were something Coordinators could never hope to reach.

The report also dug up truths people had never known.

The Strongest Coordinator and the Strongest Natural had appeared one after another.

Strongest Coordinator—Kira Yamato.

A knight who defended justice and freedom, an MS combat pilot aboard the Main Angel, a First Generation Coordinator, and currently the pilot of the Freedom Gundam. One of humanity's strongest MS pilots.

He was also known as the most perfect Coordinator.

The report even documented Kira Yamato's combat career.

From piloting the Strike Gundam for the first time at Heliopolis to slaughtering enemies in the Yachin Due Campaign, in less than a year, a boy who had never touched an MS had overwhelmed hundreds of thousands of ZAFT MS pilots and risen to become one of humanity's strongest MS pilots.

He had once beaten ZAFT's red-uniformed elites until they had no answer.

This résumé was dazzling enough to inspire fear, but it also proved the true worth of the Strongest Coordinator.
