Lacus is the daughter of Siegel Clyne, Chairman of the PLANT Supreme Council. By age fourteen, she was already a well-known singer, while Siegel regarded her as the inheritor of his own political will 3 9. She was also publicly engaged to Athrun Zala 65.

During the early war, Lacus met Noer Cassia at a PLANT banquet and graciously gave him a signed photograph when he asked for an autograph 29. While traveling to Junius 7 to conduct preliminary investigations for its memorial service, her inspection vessel was destroyed after an Earth Alliance boarding dispute.
