Durandal Wants a Free Ride

"Shouldn't you salute and greet your superior when you see him?"

After walking in, Durandal smiled and made a joke at Noer's expense.

The other soldiers instinctively turned to look at Noer.

Noer rolled his eyes, casually threw up a salute, and replied bluntly, "You came all this way just to make me salute you? You really have too much time on your hands."

Hearing Noer's words, Durandal's adjutant frowned and opened her mouth, about to step forward and speak.

But Durandal raised a hand to stop her first, then smiled at Noer. "You really don't give me any face at all, do you? Aren't you afraid I'll make things difficult for you?"

"Mr. Chairman?"

Durandal's adjutant's expression changed slightly. Was that really something he could say in front of his subordinates?

"Heh, thanks so damn much for reminding me you're the chairman."

Noer shot back without giving him an inch.

Seeing Durandal now just irritated him, because one could never tell what lay hidden beneath that smiling face.

He could righteously and solemnly scheme someone to death, then leave everyone unable to find a single fault with it.

If he wanted to, he could even make you think you deserved to die.

Still, Durandal was indeed acting a little strangely today.

"You—"

"You should head back first."

Just as the adjutant was about to speak, Durandal cut her off.

"But, Mr. Chairman—"

"Don't worry. Noer and I have known each other for a long time. Calling us close friends wouldn't be an exaggeration."

As soon as Durandal said that, both the adjutant and the nearby soldiers looked stunned.

Close friends?

Nepotism?

Could Chairman Durandal be an impostor today?

How could he dare say anything at all?
