| Ordinary leased Spirit Fields | 1 3 | Zhou Changwang tends three mu near Long Ridge Mountain. Spirit-plant-master care can raise yields beyond 500 jin per mu, though renters bear the losses from pests and crop failures. |
| First-Grade High-Quality Spirit Field | 62 84 | Zhou relocates valuable Thunder Spirit Rice seeds into a courtyard field with abundant spiritual energy. Its quality comes from a natural terrain formation centered on a pond and a spirit-vein node. |
| Second-Grade Spirit Land | 136 139 | Zhou selects Xiaofeng Mountain Spirit Land: nine mu arranged in terraces, including one mu of Second-Grade High-Stage land suitable for his Redleaf Spirit Tea Tree. |
| Second-Grade High-Stage Spirit Vein | 156 | A Third-Grade Spirit Vein Core and Water Spirit Pearl advance the land’s spirit vein. The nine mu become three mu of Second-Grade Intermediate-Stage Peak land, four mu of Second-Grade High-Stage land, and two mu of Third-Grade Early-Stage land. |
| Third-Grade Early-Stage Spirit Fields | 221 | At Five-Peak Mountain, Zhou takes possession of three mu of Third-Grade Early-Stage Spirit Fields and a First-Grade High-Stage Spirit Spring, then transplants his high-grade plants. |
| Fourth-Grade Spirit Object support | 317 | The Thousand-Year Redleaf Spirit Tea Tree advances to Fourth Grade, stabilizing and strengthening the Five-Peak Mountain Spirit Vein while increasing its spiritual-energy density. |
Background / History
Spirit Fields are cultivated plots whose soil and spiritual energy support the growth of spirit plants. Zhou Changwang’s earliest three mu were leased near Long Ridge Mountain under the Spirit Plant Hall. Their maintenance required daily soil loosening, root-level weeding, pest removal, fertilization, and irrigation; a single mistake could reduce the harvest. Spirit farmers remained financially responsible when crops were damaged, making infestations and poor yields potentially ruinous 1 3 4.
After moving into a market courtyard, Zhou discovered that its First-Grade High-Quality Spirit Fields were sustained by a naturally formed terrain formation. A pond at the center and fields in the four directions circulated spiritual energy from a nearby spirit-vein node, continuously nourishing the land 84.
Zhou later chose the nine-mu Xiaofeng Mountain Spirit Land through Water Cloud Pavilion, principally because its Second-Grade High-Stage plot could support his Third-Grade Redleaf Spirit Tea Tree. The previous tenant, Ma Tiansheng, had neglected pest control and secretly remained in the valley after his eviction; Zhou drove him out and began restoring the fields 136 139.
Following the installation of the Water Spirit Pearl and a Third-Grade Spirit Vein Core, Xiaofeng Mountain’s entire spiritual environment improved dramatically. The stronger spirit vein, upgraded Spirit Spring, and Creation Force elevated field grades and accelerated the growth of plants across the estate 155 156.
Appearance
A Spirit Field resembles ordinary farmland but is distinguished by compact, spiritually enriched soil, dense spiritual energy, and specialized irrigation. Its layout and quality depend on terrain, spirit veins, Spirit Springs, and artificial formations.
- Soil is dense enough that ordinary people cannot properly hoe it; cultivators circulate spiritual power while working it 3.
- Xiaofeng Mountain’s nine mu are arranged in terraces, with the highest-quality plot at the top 139.
- Spirit Fields may contain ponds, Spirit Springs, irrigation channels, formations, and neighboring cultivation residences 84 139 221.
- High-grade fields can support rare plants, but a plant’s grade cannot be sustained indefinitely if the field’s spiritual-energy capacity is inadequate 116.
Functions & Properties
Spirit-Plant Cultivation
Spirit Fields provide the spiritual energy required for Spirit Rice, herbs, flowers, trees, and alchemical materials to survive and mature.
- Their grade determines the upper limit of the spirit plants they can sustain 116.
- First-Grade Spirit Fields can be opened in many locations, while higher-grade fields require stronger spiritual environments and are far more valuable 210.
- Spirit Rice fields tended by spirit plant masters can yield over 500 jin per mu under favorable conditions 1.
- Crops with long maturation cycles, such as Spirit Resonance Flowers and Redleaf Spirit Tea Trees, require years of care or specialized acceleration techniques 6 107.
Spiritual-Energy Circulation
A field’s quality can be improved by nearby spirit veins, Spirit Springs, terrain formations, and high-grade spirit objects.
- The natural “four spirits guarding the center” terrain formation at Zhou’s former courtyard circulated energy from a pond into the surrounding fields 84.
- Spirit Spring water restores depleted field energy and supports more frequent use of growth-accelerating techniques 141.
- The Water Spirit Pearl upgraded Zhou’s Spirit Spring to Second-Grade Early Stage, more than doubling its spiritual energy and outlet 156.
- A Fourth-Grade Spirit Plant can stabilize and strengthen a Spirit Vein, benefiting every cultivator within the spirit land 317.
Growth Acceleration
Spirit-planter arts can hasten growth, but each method is limited by the field’s available spiritual energy.
- Spirit Rain Art nourishes plants with rain containing spiritual energy; at Perfection, it can draw ambient energy into the rainfall and form spirit water 3 103.
- Growth Technique restores and promotes plant growth but is less effective on high-grade or long-lived plants 107.
- Year-Ring Art adds growth rings directly, though excessive use can exhaust a field’s spiritual energy and damage its quality 141.
- Demon-Beast Spirit Essence provides a potent alternative growth resource, but its creation requires extracting vitality from living creatures or demon cores 150 153.
- Spirit-Boosting Art can force rapid maturation, but plants grown this way retain only about eighty percent of their normal medicinal efficacy and cannot continue growing afterward 326.
Cultivation & Maintenance
- Soil management — Fields require regular loosening, weeding, and removal of roots and grass seeds to prevent weeds from returning 3.
- Irrigation — Spirit Rain Art and Spirit Spring water replenish the spiritual energy lost through cultivation and acceleration techniques 3 141.
- Pest control — Spirit Locusts, Azure-Armored Beetles, Black-Needle Venom Bees, and other spirit insects can destroy crops or reduce medicinal quality 4 86 139.
- Beast defense — Demonic beasts may trample, eat, or otherwise ruin mature crops; an Ironclad Boar damaged Zhou’s Spirit Grain Rice over several consecutive nights 33 35.
- Spirit-insect guardians — Zhou’s Devouring Gold Spirit Bees consume invading pests and protect the field from Black-Needle Venom Bees 90.
- Plant diagnosis — Spirit Eye Art and Spirit-Listening Art allow Zhou to identify hidden pests, excess spiritual energy, and a plant’s specific needs 149 154.
Notable Spirit Crops
- Spirit Grain Rice — A common staple crop; neglected fields are vulnerable to insects, theft, and demonic beasts 1 33.
- Thunder Spirit Rice — Tree-like spirit rice that requires lightning nourishment to mature quickly; Zhou later harvests thousands of jin of high-quality grain 83 156.
- Spirit Convergence Grass — A valuable ingredient for Spirit-Recovery Pills; Water Cloud Pavilion pays at least one Low-Grade Spirit Stone per stalk and often must offer more 89.
- Cloudmist Grass — A three-year spirit herb used for Cloudspirit Pills 136.
- Spirit Resonance Flowers — Ten-year medicinal flowers cultivated as part of Zhou’s obligations to Water Cloud Pavilion 136 141.
- Purple-Cyan Flowers — Three-year alchemical materials that Zhou matures using the Year-Ring Art, Spirit Rain Art, and Spirit Spring water 139 141.
- Redleaf Spirit Tea Tree — A high-grade tree whose growing requirements exceed those of ordinary crops; its later Fourth-Grade advancement strengthens an entire spirit land 107 317.
- Stellar-Origin Spirit Fruit Tree — A resource-intensive tree whose fruits improve Spiritual Root aptitude 150 181.
Relationships
- Zhou Changwang — Primary cultivator and caretaker; improves fields through spirit-plant arts, formations, spirit-vein upgrades, and experimental cultivation methods 3 84 156.
- Spirit Plant Hall — Initial owner of Zhou’s rented fields; patrols Long Ridge Mountain but places crop-loss responsibility on tenants 3 4.
- Water Cloud Pavilion — Provides Zhou with Xiaofeng Mountain Spirit Land in exchange for monthly Cloudmist Grass and Spirit Resonance Flower obligations 136.
- Devouring Gold Spirit Bees — Pest-control guardians that eliminate Black-Needle Venom Bees and consume other harmful spirit insects 90 139.
- Ma Tiansheng — Former Xiaofeng Mountain tenant whose inadequate pest management left crops vulnerable before Zhou took possession 139.
- Chen Chen — Later entrusted with cultivating part of Zhou’s Spirit Field; demonstrates exceptional spirit-plant talent by rapidly raising a Twelve-Colored Flower’s age with limited resources 259.
