Background / History
Yao Chi’s origin began with a little leopard created through the fusion of Nüwa’s Stone, Nüwa’s extreme yin power, and Qin Fen’s blood. Hongjun retrieved the creature, transformed her into a humanoid woman, accepted her as his final disciple, and named her Yao Chi. He declared her the future Queen Mother of the West, mistress of Kunlun, and foremost female immortal beneath Heaven. 953
Hongjun subsequently blurred her memories of Qin Fen, elevated her cultivation, gave her the Plain-Colored Cloud Realm Banner and Peach of Immortality Trees, and intended to shape her into a weapon against Qin Fen. Nüwa instead welcomed Yao Chi as a junior sister. 954
Before her eventual sainthood, the Queen Mother used her Three Flowers and Three Pure Ones Transformation to create two girls. This divided her spiritual foundation and left her Three Flowers and Five Qi incomplete; Sun Yujie and the Female Hooligan were later identified as reincarnations or manifestations of those two beings. 1301 1373
Appearance
The Queen Mother is a tall, flawlessly proportioned woman who appears around thirty. She has fair skin, long glossy black hair, phoenix eyes, and a composed, aristocratic bearing that makes other immortals instinctively defer to her. 108 140
- Often wears formal robes or cheongsams, particularly violet and purple garments. 131 137
- Her signature ornaments include a golden hairpin that conceals the Heaven-Measuring Ruler. 155 909
- Adopts modern styles introduced by Qin Fen, including black stockings, sky-high heels, leather outfits, business suits, and fashion-show clothing. 108 718 844
- Her black leather outfit and high heels are repeatedly described as making her appear especially imposing and queenly. 247 718
Personality
The Queen Mother is calm, observant, and politically astute. She tests subordinates rather than exposing her conclusions immediately, as shown when she quietly pressured Matchmaker Yue over Weaver Girl’s isolation. Her authority is strongest when she is outwardly composed; the Seven Fairies recognize her calm demeanor as the warning sign before a possible outburst. 107
She is deeply protective of Weaver Girl. Her confinement of Weaver Girl was intended not only as punishment, but as protection against outside threats during a period of instability in the Three Realms. Her later pardon of Weaver Girl reveals that familial affection remains more important to her than rigid resentment. 107 140
Despite her dignity, she is curious about beauty, fashion, and new mortal ideas. Qin Fen’s gifts repeatedly embarrass and anger her, yet she becomes a major trendsetter among female immortals and embraces the political potential of fashion. 108 570 813

Three Flowers and Trinity
The Queen Mother’s divided spiritual essence is central to her path toward sainthood.
- Her earlier creation of two beings left her unable to complete her Three Flowers and Five Qi. 1301

Weaver Girl’s Pardon and Qixi Reform
