The third wave of Heavenly Punishment Lightning struck, four bolts in all. This time, not only had their number doubled, but their power and size had doubled as well.
Dazzling lightning instantly lit up heaven and earth. Heaven's wrath and an aura of destruction weighed upon the world, leaving everyone nearly suffocating, as though trapped beneath an ocean ten thousand fathoms deep. Fear rose from the depths of their souls, along with a sense of insignificance and helplessness.
During the first and second waves of Heavenly Punishment Lightning, both sides had been fighting fiercely. Heaven's might and wrath had not been so intense, and with little warning before the lightning struck at such incredible speed, its impact on the battle had been limited.
When the third wave descended, its blinding radiance instantly swallowed the vision of both sides. Even the undead without eyes were no exception; they, too, felt blinded. The lightning's radiance acted directly upon the soul, so even the blind suffered the same effect.
In an instant, both armies, embroiled in raging battle with killing intent soaring into the clouds, froze together. Overawed by Heaven's might, wrath, and punishment, they momentarily forgot to move. Some weaker-willed soldiers and low-ranking undead even prostrated themselves on the ground, trembling.
"Roar..."
Jian Shang threw back his three heads and roared at the sky. His forward right hand still thrust his spear toward Arthas, while his left gripped Bone Emperor Alastair. His other four arms swelled together, their hands becoming claws that reached toward the heavens.
"Heaven-Splitting Claw!"
Four enormous, almost tangible claws formed and savagely seized at the descending Heavenly Punishment Lightning, their might seemingly enough to tear the firmament apart.
Of course, Jian Shang had better ways to withstand the Heavenly Punishment Lightning, such as the Eastern Sovereign
