Word spread that the Huan King had "gone mad" in the Zhangchu State palace and wiped out the Crown Prince Residence and the Heaven and Earth Society, two major Apex Otherworlder factions, in one sweep. Undercurrents surged as every side made its own plans. A storm seemed about to break over Chen City. Even when Huan Kingdom patrols passed, many Otherworlders and locals kept their distance for fear of being caught in the crossfire.
As for Zhangchu State, it made no statement and offered no explanation. It merely declared that this was a private dispute, unrelated to the larger situation and, naturally, to Zhangchu State itself.
