Edna quietly looked at the Darkgolden Sacred Tome on the table, now transformed into a Divine Artifact. Its cover, woven from Adamantine and Mithril, was patterned with fine multicolored lines intertwined into the shape of snowflakes floating across its surface.
The words "Snowfall Island Covenant" shimmered with flowing lights of different colors.
Yet this Divine Artifact book still looked very plain, vastly different from the sharp-edged, lavish, dazzling Divine Artifacts popular on Toril. It inevitably brought to mind the Lady of Night.
The Divine Artifacts she crafted had always matched her style perfectly: deadly intent concealed beneath the surface.
Having discovered what functions several Gods had sealed into it, Edna felt that anyone daring to cause trouble on Snowfall Island in the future would probably die without a burial place.
Perhaps they had not wanted to lose face before the other Gods, so they had all put in a little too much effort... After all, a covenant bearing the marks of Neutral, Evil, and Good Gods alike, all of them Greater Divine Powers, was far too rare.
Of course, it might also have been meant to oppose future enemies... This island might become the first line of resistance against invaders.
Edna understood the ways of these Toril Gods well enough. If they could place the battlefield on someone else's territory, nobody would bother considering whether they should.
If Chauntea, the Mother of Earth, had appeared from the beginning, the Moonshadow Isles might still have had a future of their own. But she had retreated before Shar... With so many Good Alignment Gods present, even if Shar attacked her, she could not possibly have been beaten to death outright!
Yet Chauntea had not even been willing to suffer that much.
That meant she had abandoned her final land of faith.
