Watching the Undead use every possible posture, even swallowing Swift Swim potions to dart through the seabed, Hill was exceptionally tolerant. He waited in the air for an entire day before telling them it was time to return to the city.
What put him in a good mood was that not a single Undead said they planned to die and respawn back home, so Hill need not wait for them. Within half an hour of his voice reaching their ears, every one of them scrambled up the vines hanging from the Cloud Platform.
So, halfway back to the city, Hill even let them watch a grand battle between sea monsters and sharks... Those sharks clearly belonged to Triton's faction.
Otherwise, ordinary marine creatures, even the mindless kind, would flee the moment they encountered sea monsters.
Without Triton's protection and blessing, encountering a sea monster was not merely a matter of becoming food if they could not win. Even if they won, they would become one of them.
As long as a wound appeared, they might be assimilated on the spot.
Thus, whenever a war between such gigantic sea beasts broke out, the side that was not rotting had to be intelligent creatures... Naturally, they had long since sided with Triton.
Sharks in particular—nearly every one of their species had pledged allegiance to Triton, the newly risen lord of the seas.
Still, Hill could understand their choice.
After all, many marine creatures had indeed insisted on not abandoning Oaisis's innate Ocean Goddess. Their fate had been rotting bodies and nerves stripped of all self-control... less than puppets.
Logically, sharks were less intelligent than whales. Hill had no idea why the ones in Oaisis reacted so keenly; even Great White Sharks had obediently followed Triton.
