Hill pondered for a while, then took another careful look at the cactus... Apart from being fairly high-level for a plant and containing abundant energy, there really was nothing special about it.

Even plants like cacti, which stored some water in their trunks, developed downward first.

This cactus was clearly on the verge of evolving. The edges of its long, fleshy spines gleamed with a hostile metallic sheen, and they were plainly very hard.

Although it could handle ordinary creatures without a problem, it was clearly helpless against a natural predator like the Night Butterfly.

Even its defenses against fire were not particularly good.

Of course, ordinary little fireballs would not even scorch its skin, but the courtyard was currently full of all kinds of flammable material... Namely, the white spiderwebs hanging in every corner.
