"By the way, Teacher, do Chromatic Dragons have reverse scales?" Russell asked somewhat bewilderedly, holding a scroll in his hand... It was Hilbert's Book of Dragons, meant to teach them some basic knowledge.
"No," Hilbert answered simply.
"Then what is he..." Russell had thought this dragon was some new species!
He had always remembered reverse scales as a trait of serpentine creatures!
They were actually the tiny scales around the heart.
"There's nothing wrong with using that term in place of his heart." Hilbert gave a faint laugh. "Although dragons' hearts are all beneath their chests, the bone at the front of their chests undergoes special changes as well.
Like reverse scales, it may not look particularly remarkable, but it is actually extremely sturdy."
"Then why did he say that?" Russell asked curiously. "Doesn't he care about being compared to serpentine creatures?"
"He is trying to pass himself off as a rather unusual species of dragon from the River Styx." Hill could not help laughing. "This dragon must have encountered Styx Dragons before. He knows that those somewhat snake-like dragons feed on infernal creatures.
And he has also displayed a few traits of a Rust Dragon, but his intelligence is obviously far too high. Rust Dragons do not have that kind of ability.
But he can completely claim to be a mutated Rust Dragon... Those things have no particularly noteworthy abilities. They are merely cruel enough, but their destructive power against metal is extremely formidable.
Most planar travelers are very unwilling to run into them.
But to Devils, both of these creatures are rather troublesome.
That includes those Fallen Angels.
They are skilled at using metal weapons... Whether it is the Rust Dragon's innate ability to destroy metal or the Styx Dragon's terrifying acid mist, both are quite effective against
