Pretending to be a Styx Dragon was indeed somewhat useful, but at most it kept him from engaging in close combat. It was nowhere near enough to make a Combat Angel skilled in long-range attacks keep his distance.

"Is something wrong, Teacher?" Carpenter asked with concern. "That dragon seems to have been trapped in illusions the whole time. It hasn't actually been hit!"
"I don't care how many arrows that dragon gets shot with." Hill shook his head and sighed. "I'm just wondering, how has Asmodeus managed to hold on for so long this time?

No matter how Hill thought about it, that seemed like the most likely possibility.
