Hill glanced at him... this was Lathander answering, not his avatar.

Though it sounded a little harsh, the Dawn Lord's avatar acting alone was actually much more proper than Lathander himself.

Of course, not in terms of how he handled matters, but in terms of how he spoke.

One's nature was hard to change, but an avatar was not like the main body, who had ten thousand thoughts in a second and then randomly chose one to say aloud... he could only think before speaking, so he sounded more like an actual person.

Mephistopheles had originally been responsible for many of Asmodeus's cults, only to later try to use those forces to establish his own Hellfire Cult. He belonged to the type of devil archduke who secretly betrayed his master.

Yet unlike the other devil archdukes, he had never openly displayed his disapproval of Asmodeus.

He had not even completely given up working for Asmodeus.

That was truly troublesome for Asmodeus, who had made many promises to the Will of Hell in order to become the Lord of Hell... he could not kill him, and his devilish existence
