Hill's eyes practically lit up... those peculiar potions seemed to have triggered a very interesting chemical reaction with the magic array beneath them.
It was incredible.
Although they had traced out the magic array themselves, with the person behind them providing only the plans and the main materials, its breadth, depth, and staying power made it clear that the array itself was remarkably well designed.
After deducing from various clues that Vecna had a hand in this, Hill had developed a fair amount of respect for the fellow's former abilities as a mage.
His character was beneath contempt, but these fellows who had gone from mages to gods rarely did anything Hill found incomprehensible... unlike the Divine Art Array at the Silver Moon Temple, which had been cobbled together entirely through divine power.
The first time Hill glimpsed it, he had felt as though someone were force-feeding him an enormous meal.
Was the array bad? Absolutely not. In fact, it was stronger than most arrays of the same level, and the spell runes used within it were all the most standard and appropriate choices.
But an Alchemy Grandmaster like Hill could only feel his vision darken at the sight of it... his stomach felt bloated before he had even eaten.
Even without examining Vecna's magic array closely, Hill could see how tightly everything fit together, each link leading into the next, with surprises at every turn.
An array like this was like an impeccably planned feast. From the aperitif to the main course, the dessert, and even the final digestif, it left you free to savor the food after leaving the table without having to worry about how much your stomach could handle.
Of course, a feast of this caliber would naturally come wrapped in something both beautiful and secure.
