As the Friend of Merchants, there were some things she could never do openly, especially war.
Once merchants chose war as a means of profit, they either died without a grave or became the new nobility.
Though they might sound different, the so-called councilors were no longer merchants. They no longer used commercial methods to handle matters. How troublesome.
Merchants like that would only grow more distant from her Church of Wealth.
Unless she could truly make all of Faerûn use only her wealth coins as currency.
Hill glanced south. He really could not understand what Waukeen was plotting. Had greed clouded her mind, or had she boarded a pirate ship she could no longer disembark from?
When she first began working with the Evil Dragon, had she never considered that she might attract the attention of the Chromatic Dragon Queen? Or had the Evil Dragon never told her his true purpose from the beginning?
Otherwise, why would she dare work with the Evil Dragon? Was she not afraid that the Chromatic Dragon Queen would take a fancy to his enormous wealth in Faerûn?
The Chromatic Dragon Queen's greed was truly horrifying. Even her followers did not dare live beside her altar. She was a terrifying existence who believed that whatever she saw belonged entirely to her—not even a single copper coin would escape her grasp.
Hill had already discovered that the first batch of Faerûnian visitors to charge in were all subordinates of Gods of Greater Divine Power and their Subordinate Gods. Those of intermediate power and below had yet to appear.
He glanced at several Undead
