The final lot at the Waterdeep auction was a magic ship.
Hill gave it a second look, intrigued.
The ship itself was not in the auction hall. Everyone was shown only a scale model.
The auctioneer claimed the model was made from the same materials, so Hill studied it closely.
He smiled in satisfaction. So they had used Starfall Iron. He still had some of that.
He would try making one when he got back. He remembered copying a book in the Silver Moon City library that contained the basic magical arrays for a magic ship.
Velamarandis asked curiously, "Why are you interested in something like this? You can fly on your own, can't you? A spell like that would barely cost you anything."
"I prefer to travel in comfort," Hill said. "Besides, if money can solve a problem, why waste my own strength?"
"Hah." The Silver Moon Dragon Queen scoffed as if it came naturally. "You'd waste gold on something you could do with a wave of your hand?"
Man and dragon looked at each other. Their views on spending were complete opposites. They would never be friends.
Velamarandis grew a little worried about her foolish son.
If Telly really became a Gold Dragon who spent freely, even the Chromatic Dragon Queen might come to see the spectacle.
She decided she needed to give Telly another thorough lesson in dragon traditions.
During the auction, Waterdeep had not said the magic ship could travel to other planets. Instead, they claimed it could easily sail to other continents.
"Why do they keep other worlds secret?" Hill asked, curious. "The people of Toril must have known about other worlds for a long time."
