Like everyone else, Hill watched Aglaia, who seemed to be communing with the Oceanic Law.

He was a little worried. Unlike Telashir's source, which consisted of separate threads, Toril's was a vast web. The Oceanic Law was one thread—perhaps several—woven into it.

Some of Aglaia's divine power had probably already settled onto that web.

He spoke as calmly as he could. "Aglaia, watch your divine power. When it passes through Toril's Magic Weave, keep it near the edges, and take care not to touch any other laws.

"You can't compete with Toril's more powerful gods for control of the Magic Weave yet. It's better to steer clear."

Especially of that tangled mess at the center!

Otherwise, who knew whether Aglaia's divine power would be dragged in when Mystra fell and the Magic Weave re-formed?

Only Aglaia's avatar was in Toril. Her true body was too far away; by rights, she should have struggled to accomplish even this much.

But although the Star Gate had been destroyed, the connection it had once established still existed.

The explosion that destroyed the Star Gate had destabilized the Star Route, however. Establishing another stable passage would not be easy.

That still left Aglaia at a disadvantage compared with Toril's gods when it came to anchoring her divine power.

Hill's memories of Mystra's destruction were hazy.

Not many people had enjoyed that part of the story.

But he did remember that many gods had suffered because of their close ties to Mystra.

The only ones to benefit had been the two primordial goddesses. Selûne had returned to Greater Divine Power, while Shar had shaped her home plane and the Shadow Weave exactly to her liking.

The other gods had been left with nothing but headaches.

Even Cyric, who had carried it out, had gained nothing.
