Mushroom Sprite, Teemo
William carefully parted the bushes. Sure enough, the ground beneath was covered in densely packed little blue mushrooms.
Logically speaking, even ordinary people would not eat this kind of mushroom.
After all, no one was stupid. The brighter a mushroom's color, the more poisonous it usually was.
But the magic power radiating from the mushrooms was no fake.
What was magic power?
Magic power was free-floating particles dispersed throughout the air...
"Ahem, I can't make this up anymore. Anyway, whether it's combat energy or mana, both are replenished by magic power. It's a world created by a game, so why bother with logic..." After carefully inspecting the area, William discovered that there were actually many mushrooms beneath the bushes.
His expression brightened. "Be careful. Don't step on them. See if there's a Potion Sprite here!"
Potion Sprite.
A magical creature born from nature.
These creatures were usually palm-sized, humanoid, and had a pair of nearly transparent little wings. They flew swiftly and were as nimble as the wind~
Wherever there were abundant magic herbs, a Sprite would often be born!
And Sprites were naturally inclined to carefully tend those magic herbs. They were diligent gardeners, doing everything they could to make the herbs grow more luxuriantly and expand in scale.
"There really could be a Sprite?" Lotner's eyes lit up. That would be an amazing thing. They would never have to worry about magic herbs again.
Of course, Sprites and Elves did not share even the slightest blood relation, but Elves often had an unimaginable degree of fondness for Sprites.
There were no fewer than tens of thousands of Sprites in Dark Night City. Every Sprite lived practically like an emperor emeritus, waited upon in such comfort that it was almost absurd.
The main reason was that both races were born of nature. Elves themselves possessed formidable combat strength, while Sprites were simply too adorable, like delicate little girls who seemed soft and fragile, making Elves instinctively want to protect them...
Before long.
The Sprite hidden among the mushrooms poked her head out!
The palm-sized little thing fluttered her tiny wings. A blue mushroom grew atop her head, and she pouted, her huge tearful eyes full of grievance. "Are you going to eat me? Can you let me go? I don't taste good. You can eat the mushrooms."
With great effort, she tugged free a mushroom nearly as large as her own body, barely lifted it into the air, and said, "Here, eat the mushroom. Don't eat me, okay?"
"Oh my god, what an adorable creature!" The group of big Elven men instantly had their hearts melted upon seeing the little cutie, staring fixedly at the Sprite.
"Cute, want..."
William shot the guard a glance, making him clamp his mouth shut. Then William put on what he believed was a friendly expression and slowly crouched down. "We won't eat you. Elves are friends of Sprites. How could we eat you? What are you hiding from? Is there a monster that wants to eat you?"
The little mushroom-headed Sprite hurriedly nodded. Gesturing with both hands, she said, "There's a huge doggie with a giant bloody mouth! It went awooo, awooo, and wanted to eat me!"
Her wings fluttered, and with a whoosh, she hid among the mushrooms. She then poked out her little head again and said, "If I hadn't hidden quickly in the mushroom patch, that big doggie would have eaten me already."
"Oh?" William touched one of the mushrooms in puzzlement, then suddenly understood. "They haven't matured yet. No wonder that Lightning Wolf didn't take a bite. It was probably planning to wait until the mushrooms matured, then eat all of you together..."
"Do you want to eat me too..." The mushroom-headed Sprite tightly covered her mouth with her little hands, staring directly at William as tears continued to fall from her eyes.
No one knew how this little thing had grown up. She was so tiny, yet her tears fell like raindrops, streaming down in strings...
"No, no, how could I eat you? Don't cry. If you keep crying, that big doggie will come back to life!" William hurriedly explained. After all, a Sprite's mood affected how well the magic herbs grew...
The Sprite touched the little mushroom on her head and nodded at him. She stopped crying, but hid herself among the mushrooms again, peeking out her little head to look at these big people whose presence felt so comfortable.
It had to be said.
Sprites had pointed ears too.
That trait alone made the two races naturally fond of each other.
After William spoke with Lotner for a while, he crouched down and said to the Sprite, "The forest is too dangerous. You should come home with me. How about I help you move?"
"Does your home have tasty food?"
"Yes!"
"Does your home have fun things?"
"Yes!"
"Is your home dangerous?"
"Yes... No, of course not!" William's mouth twitched. This little clever devil really was something else.
The Mushroom Sprite bit her finger and finally nodded. "Then help me move."
William did not need to give any orders at all. The Elves immediately pitched in, digging deeply and carefully to ensure that not a single mushroom was damaged. As for the Mushroom Sprite, a female Elven Ranger gently held her in her hands, happily telling her all about her future home.
William stood up, turned to Lotner, and said, "She's probably a newly born Sprite. She isn't clever enough yet. Otherwise, she would have rushed over the moment she saw us..."
"That's right. According to the inherited memories nature gives them, Sprites are basically not wary of us." Lotner nodded. Elves and Sprites were both nature's favored children, and their relationship had been exceptionally good since ancient times.
"Luckily, we have Mithril. Otherwise, we really wouldn't know how to feed this little thing!" William raised an eyebrow. Sprites liked absorbing the magic power from various metals.
For example, Mithril, Gold Essence, Orichalcum, and even all kinds of gemstones were Sprite food...
That was right, Sprites ate money, which was why most people could not afford to raise these little cuties.
Sprites did not directly consume metals such as Mithril. Instead, they absorbed the magic power within them, then used their innate magic to expand the scale of the magic herbs.
In short.
Only with investment could there be returns.
And the importance of magic herbs went without saying.
For players alone, magic herbs were like temporary double-experience pills. They could only be used once per day, but each day they granted a period of double experience. In a game without cash-shop items, that was already quite rare for players.
Most importantly, magic herbs could slowly increase an NPC's bloodline potential and raise their level.
This was an important way to make NPCs stronger.
"Even with money, it's hard to buy a Sprite..." William, a wealthy tycoon with mines at home, had plenty of money himself.
To the Pure-Blood Elves, Sprites were friends and family, not merchandise. Forget buying one—merely bringing it up would be treated as a declaration of war...
It was like telling your friend, "I want to borrow your beautiful wife for a trip, just to show off. Don't worry, I definitely won't cuckold you..."
Tell me, who would agree to that?
As for human nations, Sprites were weapons of national importance, strategic assets even more valuable than steel or warhorses. Unless they were forced into a corner, they would never trade them.
In any case, if William wanted to get a Sprite, he could only rely on luck...
"Oh, right. Let's give you a name?" William suddenly said.
The Mushroom Sprite raised her head in confusion.
"From now on, you'll be a scout... Ahem, let's call you Teemo!"
"Teemo?" The Mushroom Sprite blinked, then excitedly flew circles around William. "Teemo, Teemo, Teemo Teemo~"
