Si Jinyan's body stiffened as a jolt of electricity shot through his mind. Afraid that the word "father" might touch on Chi Li's emotional wound, his expression immediately tightened slightly as he raised his eyes to examine Chi Li's face.

Chi Li stared at the pocket, his expression calm and indifferent. Si Jinyan thought of something and froze again, suddenly realizing this was Mermaid Language. Chi Li probably could not hear it...

The melodies produced by a Mermaid's oral organs far exceeded the frequencies human vocal cords could receive. Chi Li should not have been able to hear them.

Yet, judging by Chi Li's current expression and behavior, he did not look as though he had heard nothing.

There had been too many changes lately, and Si Jinyan felt that this possibility was not impossible. He simply did not know when Chi Li had become able to hear Mermaid Language. But at that moment, his curiosity over whether Chi Li could hear it was far outweighed by his panic.

A flash of realization shot through Si Jinyan's mind, yet Chi Li merely looked on calmly. That gave Si Jinyan a measure of comfort and hope, mingled with his panic.
