New Year's Day Extra (Unrelated to the Main Story)

(Chi Li, Si Jinyan, and Eggy, a family of three, wish everyone a happy New Year's Day! May the new year go smoothly for you all. Here's a New Year's "Egg" extra to bring everyone some cheer; this extra is unrelated to the main story~)

"Dad, Dad, what's New Year's Egg?" Eggy rolled around on the carpet before rolling up beside Chi Li's leg. "Is it Eggy's holiday?"

Eggy had not started school yet. He had heard the term during Si Jinyan and Chi Li's conversation and puzzled over it by himself for a while, but still could not figure it out, so he asked Chi Li.

Chi Li was sitting in a beanbag chair on the floor, reading. Si Jinyan had covered the bedroom in soft mats, and he had prepared this beanbag chair for Chi Li as well.

It was cold outside, but the heating indoors kept the room warm enough. Chi Li wore only a thin sweater. Hearing him, he set down his book and explained, "New Year's Day is the first day of the new year. 'New' means a beginning, while 'Day'..."

Chi Li touched Eggy's head with his fingertips and gave it a gentle tap. Eggy was clearly still just an egg, yet Chi Li could always somehow see the hopeful eyes inside it gazing at him. "This 'day' isn't the same as the 'egg' in Eggy."

"Mm..." Eggy rolled up Chi Li's calf. As he grew bigger, Eggy's "abilities" became stranger and more magical. He could even roll straight up the vertical edge of a table.

Eggy rolled onto Chi Li's lap and nestled in his arms. "Then what kind of egg is it?"

Chi Li wrote the character for "day" on Eggy's shell. It tickled Eggy so much that he laughed nonstop, but
