Chi Li was left panting from all the torment.
Even though he had said that, Si Jinyan showed no intention of letting him go to the bathroom.
Seeing the faint redness in Si Jinyan's eyes, Chi Li knew he would not be getting away this time.
In the end, it was only after Chi Li cried and begged that Si Jinyan carried him to the bathroom.
Chi Li lay on the bed, completely dazed, as though three souls and seven spirits had been drained out of him.
Afterward, Chi Li was a little angry. With his back to Si Jinyan, he did not want to speak to him.
Si Jinyan looked at Chi Li's messy, soft black hair. "Are you angry?"
Chi Li did not make a sound.
After a moment, Si Jinyan said, "I apologize."
Chi Li froze. He looked at Si Jinyan in disbelief, as though confirming what Si Jinyan had just said.
Gentleness filled Si Jinyan's eyes. "Mm."
Chi Li's face suddenly grew hot. A strange feeling, one he had never experienced even when they were pressed intimately together, spread from the depths of his heart. Uncomfortably shifting his gaze aside, Chi Li said, "You went too far."
Si Jinyan held him without arguing, saying softly, "Mm."
It was as though Chi Li had gained some kind of courage—the courage drawn from Si Jinyan's indulgent attitude. "You can't do that when I need to use the bathroom."
Si Jinyan paused, then the corners of his lips lifted slightly. "Mm."
Chi Li was still slightly turned on his side, facing Si Jinyan, and did not notice the change in his expression. "And you can't be so rough every time without considering how I feel."
This time, Si Jinyan did not answer immediately. Chi Li, who had been thoroughly enjoying venting his grievances, realized it too. Had he gone too far and embarrassed Si Jinyan?
Just as he was about to speak, Si Jinyan said, "I thought you enjoyed it too."
Chi Li instantly flushed red all over, as if his last shred of modesty had been stripped away. "I did not!" Sure enough, he should not have considered Si Jinyan's dignity. Si Jinyan's skin was as thick as a fortress wall—he should have realized that long ago!
Si Jinyan burst into laughter, a nearly imperceptible hint of affection in his eyes. "Fine. If you say you didn't, then you didn't."
This was the first time Chi Li had seen Si Jinyan laugh so happily, and he was stunned for a moment.
Si Jinyan said, "I bought you a light computer."
Chi Li had yet to recover from that smile. "Why?"
Si Jinyan said, "The butler said you like reading. Sometimes you need to buy things too. I don't have time to take you out for fun, so you can browse on the light computer. My account is linked to it, and you can buy whatever you like."
A child Chi Li's age should still enjoy going out and playing with people his own age.
Chi Li was dumbfounded. With a light computer, he could receive news from the outside world much faster. He smiled brilliantly. "Thank you, Marshal."
"Not angry anymore?" Si Jinyan could not help rubbing against the back of his neck, like a large cheetah drawing in its sharp claws as it acted spoiled.
A feeling actually rose in Chi Li's heart that Si Jinyan depended on him. "The Marshal is still very good to me."
Si Jinyan smiled. "That alone counts as treating you very well? You're no longer holding onto our previous 'grudge'?"
Chi Li turned over to face the ceiling, letting Si Jinyan hold him. He answered obediently, "There's no grudge."
Si Jinyan smiled. The two did not get out of bed until the butler came to call them for dinner.
Right after eating, Chi Li began fiddling with the light computer Si Jinyan had brought back. He had to pretend he did not know how to use it; people from the slums did not dare dream of owning a light computer.
Si Jinyan gave Chi Li a rough explanation, then left the rest for the butler to teach him.
Chi Li learned quickly and soon got the hang of it. The butler left him in the living room to play, telling him to call if he encountered anything he did not understand.
Chi Li nodded obediently.
It would be nice if Si Jinyan could take him out. Chi Li searched for several famous imperial buildings and scenic sites, most of which were very close to the Federal Government where Si Jinyan worked.
A few days later, Chi Li ordered several more heart disease medications.
Remembering that Si Jinyan liked cream-scented pheromones, Chi Li also ordered ingredients for a cream cake. He did not know how to make one, but what mattered was letting Si Jinyan see the gesture.
Over the next few days, Si Jinyan's primary account received numerous payment notifications at irregular intervals.
In his office, Si Jinyan looked at the messages and smiled helplessly. He had even worried that the little one would not know how to spend the money.
"Why are you smiling so happily?" Geng Ji pushed open the door and saw that Si Jinyan no longer wore his usual stern expression.
Naturally, Si Jinyan had no intention of responding to him over such a matter. Tactfully, Geng Ji continued on his own, "Did you see the marriage alliance notice the Emperor sent you? They really do stir up trouble before the last one has even settled."
Si Jinyan remained composed, not appearing particularly concerned or worried about the matter.
Geng Ji could not help teasing him. "Aren't you afraid that little thing at home will be heartbroken?"
In a political arena where one careless step could leave rivers of blood, a little pet kept at home could never take the stage, much less before the cold-blooded Si Jinyan. Yet seeing Si Jinyan's recent changes, Geng Ji could not resist making a few snide remarks.
Si Jinyan lifted his eyes and glanced at him, slightly displeased, as though finding that Geng Ji had said far too much irrelevant nonsense today.
