Some exploded on the spot, sending Smaug hopping about with his claws raised. Some flew to the ceiling and blasted away the rock above, raining rubble down until he could not even lift his head. Others were more vicious, flying straight onto Smaug and exploding against him, leaving him dazed and disoriented, swaying left one moment and right the next, utterly unable to keep his balance.
